Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I've noticed that when looking into them for the GC and my other car. Kind of annoying. I'm thinking I'll get an extra set of taillights for my other car and trim it down. The taillights are big enough that they'd cover the third brake light.

Should I take this out myself? it is a screw, not a nail.

Gotta get it out. It will at least make a ticking sound as you drive but may also be a slow leak.

Remove it to see if it is deep enough to release air. If it leaks, put it back in and have it repaired.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Finally got my plates in so put them on

I like using a black low profile plate for the back, but why does my 12 only have to two top holes to mount the plate/frame????

To try and avoid rattling I put double sided tape between the plate and frame and I also put 3 clear bump stops behind the plate so the bottom doesn't rub up against the paint

Anybody drill holes at the bottom?

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Sent this to someone inside Chrysler that will get it to a good customer service person:
Quote:
Good morning,

While on a road trip from Denver, CO to San Diego, CA last month, my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrailHawk Hemi experienced several electrical issues. After trying to reset the system via disconnecting the battery, I called my dealer in Brighton, CO to discuss our options. The issue was very complex as it involved several different systems. The systems involved included three distinct areas:

1. The compass display in the driver information center. All of the other screens continued to operate.
2. The row of buttons that control the TOW/HAUL mode, reverse sensing system and stability control. The hazard flashers remained working.
3. The buttons and dials that control four-wheel drive operation and the air suspension.

The two systems that were most troublesome were the air suspension and TOW/HAUL mode as I was towing our travel trailer for a vacation. The air suspension continued to work automatically but could not be controlled. At one point, the system switched into OffRoad 1 mode and would not switch back until the Jeep was at highway speed.

My wife contacted Perry Jeep in National City, CA to setup an appointment for Tuesday, June 23rd. I took my Jeep in for the appointment and was told that they would not be able to begin work until the next morning, so I chose to keep it for the night and bring it back. When I brought it back the next morning, I explained the issue in detail and also asked to have the tires rotated. Since the dealer does not provide loaners, I paid for a rental from Enterprise so my family could enjoy our time in the San Diego area. We have owned several Acura's in the past and were always provided a loaner for service like this.

The service writer called me mid-afternoon and explained that the repair would be 3-5 days as they would have to remove the instrument cluster and send it to Chrysler for repair. The service writer said it was a "coded" part that only Chrysler could work on. I told them that I could not wait that long as we were supposed to begin driving back to Denver, CO in a couple days and that the repair would have to wait. The service writer then told me that the tire rotation was done and the Jeep would be ready for pickup soon. I dropped off the rental car, paid for the rotation and then left.

It wasn't until a week later, after I was home, that I realized the service tech had not completed the rotation as requested and paid for. I know this for a fact because I have had a very slow leak in the left-front tire for several months and have to add air every 10 days or so. My wife called me and said that the TPMS system was reporting low pressure in the left-front tire. I thought this was odd because the tires had been rotated and the low pressure should have been the left-rear tire. When she got home, I checked the pressure and found it was indeed low. I then realized that my wheels had locking lug nuts and I had not given the service writer the key to remove the wheels. This was when I discovered that Perry Jeep had not completed the work I had paid for.

I have called the service manager at Perry Jeep and left a message with his secretary. When asked what the issue was, I told the person that I had paid for a service that had not been completed and would appreciate a call back to discuss a refund. It has now been close to a week since I called and have not heard back from Perry Jeep.

My Jeep is now at our dealer, Johnson Auto in Brighton, CO, having the issues diagnosed and hopefully repaired. In addition to the warranty work, I am having the spark plugs changed at 30k miles per the maintenance schedule. I also asked them about having the transmission fluid flushed under warranty as the TOW/HAUL mode did not work while towing and I am concerned that the transmission could not operate as designed. I did monitor the temperature while towing, but you can never be too safe with automatic transmissions. The service writer said that he did not think that Chrysler would pay for the service but that he would ask.

The amount of money paid to Perry Jeep was $19.95. Not a large amount, but it is troubling that a tech would say they had completed the work when in fact they had not. Had he told the service writer about the issue, he could have called me and I would have told him where the locking key was; it was in the cubby hole by the spare tire. Had my tire not lost pressure, the issue would have gone unresolved and could have contributed to excessive wear.

I know that Chrysler is under no obligation to me as the issue is with a particular dealer, but I thought that the issue should be reported. I am not sure what is a bigger offense to me - the fact that the service writer lied or that the service manager does not care that a customer paid for a service that wasn't provided.

My wife took the Jeep to a local tire dealer to have the tire repaired. Even though we did not buy the tires there, they fixed the flat and rotated them at no charge because we have been customers for many years. That is how customer service should be handled.

Thank you

Put some soapy water on it. If it has penetrated into the tire itself you'll see it right away. You'll see bubbles. If that's the case I would remove the tire myself in the driveway and take it to a tire center to get it fixed. If you drive it there they'll go to work with their air guns, etc. I've seen nice wheels scratched up from that. It's up to you.

If you don't see any bubbles, then I would just pull it out. Then keep an eye on the tire pressure. In fact you should be able to determine if it's leaking from the tire pressure readouts as well. They'll show a few pounds difference. If that tire is dropping over time, it penetrated.

Worse case scenario is you take the screw out & the tyre deflates quickly. Then you're forced to change the wheel. Best option would be to leave it in & drive to your tyre/repair shop.

It seems like there is a small leak. I have a tire contract with Chrysler. I probably stop by the dealership later this afternoon.
