Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

The dealer that we dropped our GC off with last Friday finally has a diagnosis for what caused our multiple issues. They said the instrument cluster needs to be replaced and they hope to have it completed next Wednesday. I told them that we would like to pick it up on Thursday, but Friday is a hard deadline because we have another camping trip planned.

Dropped in an AEM Dryflow air filter. $46 on Amazon vs $35 for cheapest filter at auto parts store. Also ordered a new cabin air filter today. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1437186569.260847.jpg

Got my anodized fuel and def caps from eBay member jacktj104

I just need to find a metal "button" to epoxy to the inside of the fuel door so the magnet in the cap can stick to it while fueling up. Cost $81 for both caps shipped. Not as fancy as Dom's, but the timing and price was acceptable.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I did a few things on the jeep today. I got my weathertech mats front and rears as well as the cargo liner all in.

I then installed the hypterch interceptor in about 10 minutes for under hood and pedal , it was extremely simple to do.

I then spent 35 minutes and did the taillight solutions full LED install with rear fogs. Looking forward to tonight so I can see the difference in the dark, but already happy with how much brighter it all is even just in the daylight.

I then installed some outer scuff plates front and rear (see pics) while waiting for my lighted summit inner scuff plates to arrive, which should be here sometime Monday.

Still waiting on my interior LED kit and a couple other goodies.

Got the front windows tinted to 20%. Only had it a week and I couldn't stand the fish bowl feel. Best part is when you know someone n don't even have to leave home to get it done.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Installed Crossed-Drilled and slotted rotors with the carbon Kevlar pads on the rear of my 2011 WK2. I installed the Powerstop Z23 lit. Purchased the kit from Pepboys for $170 after a 30% off coupon for an online purchase.

The OEM pads were down to the metal base on the right side and close to the wear bar on the left. Definitely some uneven wear. The Right Rear pad had also worn at a slight angle.

Anyway, this was my first brake job on the WK2 and it is a bit of a pain if you do not know what to do. Took me 4-5 hours on the right side but only 30-40 mins on the left. Took longer on the right trying to figure out how to get the lower caliper pin out and wasn't aware of the rubber o-ring just in front of the rotor. For such a tiny little bugger it really stopped the rotor from moving of the shaft.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Took it for a Sunday cruise on the Otay Mtn Truck Trail in San Diego. Just a gravel road up to the top of the mountain with some blind sharp corners and a sharp drop off on several points. The wife wasn't too happy about that! But, got a good photo out of the deal!
