I attached a couple more pics from above on another thread (see below), hoping it would help others. I had a hard time finding out exactly what the rack looked like, but ordered it anyway knowing it'd be the best solution for me. Keep in mind that if you're ordering soon and need it for a trip or something, that it took them about 4 weeks to build and ship. It was over 5 weeks from the date I ordered to my doorstep.

I was on my way to a family reunion for the first time in 18 years and got rear ended by an idiot doing over 130 km/hr in a 90 zone. He decided he was going to pass everyone on the right as a passing lane ended and I had just merged back into the single lane. I saw him swerve from the right side back into the left , try to pass me and saw a car coming so he tried to swerve back in behind me. I said to the gf f*** he's gonna hit me and instinct kicked in and I hit the gas to minimize the impact. It was either that or go into the trees. Here are a couple of pics , I figure a minimum of 7000 damage. The bumper is toast , left light fixture , quarter panel dented , lift gate dented , wiring harness severed so no signal or brake lights , dented my rim , and now a metal on metal rattle behind the dash driving me nuts.

If I hadn't of hit the gas it would have been way worse and odds are we would have ended up in the trees. The witness that was originally behind me was just as pissed as I was and he didn't even get hit or take any damage. The pictures don't show the damage as bad as it is.

Now for the only good part. I picked up a set of Mopar side steps, part #82212129AC. I emailed Mopar and they told me they would NOT fit a Summit, and that there was NOTHING available that would. Well after 45 minutes under the jeep here is the finished product , they bolt up just fine , the only reason it took me 45 minutes is the passenger side you have to unbolt 3 10mm bolts to move a wiring harness out of the way to bolt the steps up. The driver side was very easy with nothing in the way.

So for anyone that is on the fence about getting side steps for a Summit , all the mopar guys and dealers telling you they WON'T fit are completely WRONG.

Sorry the pics weren't the best they were just a quick snap to show they do fit. I will try and get some more up later when I am home and can get to the jeep.

Do you have a dash cam to capture the whole thing?

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

It just arrived in the mail so no didn't have a dash cam installed yet. Also it wouldn't have shown getting hit from behind. He did admit he was going over 130 to me and the witness, plus admitted to the police for the police report so there should be no issue with insurance once both insurance companies hear it was 110% his fault. He could very easily have killed us by knocking us into the trees or spinning us around into the other vehicles right behind us , either way not ending well.

Well, technically, this was last night but... Picked my Jeep up after getting the Mopar Rock Rails installed along with a full set of skid plates. Shout out to forum sponsor justforjeeps.com for doing the labor and fighting through what turned out to be a tough install on the rails. They even honored their original labor quote despite running way over on time. Was very happy with all my dealings with them.

Love the look, just need to figure out what I want to do about wheels and tires (too many options out there).

Installed VLEDS 5k interior bulbs and blue LEDs for the front courtesy lights.

Not sure I like the brightness of the blue. Will try it out but may go with a smaller blue LED bulb or match with rest of 5k.ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1438828872.364537.jpg

Love the look of the rock rails. I'm wanting to do them on my 15 Overland. Why are they so difficult? I didn't think anything changed with the 14s and 15s. Just for Jeeps says they fit model 11-15.

That's a good question. They really shouldn't be as difficult as the are but I think it has something to do with the manufacturing tolerances. During the install, I saw my Jeep up on the lift and one side fit just about perfectly (except for a slight warp due to shipping - I did NOT purchase from Just for Jeeps, should have) but some of the bolt alignment was way off on the other side (passengers). In the end, they could get it to work but it's not a simple bolt-off, bolt-on type job. It took the Tech awhile to get them done but they were also the first he had installed so I think there's a bit of a learning curve since, as I mentioned, things don't line up exactly as they should.

However, now that they're on, they feel extremely solid. Absolutely no movement at all when you stand on them. I really like the functionality (protection, can use as a jack point, roof access) and looks.

Not sure if this was directed to me but since it was right after I posted...

I bought all the skid plates from Just for Jeeps. They are the official Mopar plates and run about $450 for all of them (Fuel Tank are like $270 and then the other 2 are around $90 each).

I bought the Mopar rock rails from another online vendor (working from a dealership in NY) who I will not mention. It was truly an awful experience for a variety of reasons I will not go into. I really, really wish I had just waited and got them from Just for Jeeps but I was trying to save a few bucks and was planning to have them installed when I had some work done at the dealership where I bought my Jeep a couple months ago. Just for Jeeps has them for about $850 right now.

Just for future note, whenever I find something cheaper than JustforJeeps, I just call and ask if they can match it and they have been very accommodating.
