What did you do to your WK2 today?

Found out this morning that I had parked one of my tires on a small patch of wet asphalt. Took me 2 hours of scrapping and spraying some WD-40 to get most of it out. Afterwards gave her an oil change and a car wash.

What did I do to mine? I bought it! '15 Black Altitude. Looking forward to blacking out window trim and lugs, plus adding a roof rack first.

Removed the oiled K&N air filter and replaced it with a dry AFE air filter. Difficult to get the cover snaps on as the AFE is a little more thick than the K&N but I finally got them clipped on. Dan

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Had a road lane stripe truck spray my drivers side, hood and roof with hundreds of white paint spots. Guess a nozzle or whatever they use went bad as it was not spraying down on the damn road. After trying wax, mineral spirits, wd 40, power washer etc...none worked so I had to use a DA polisher and cutting compound to get them off.. it's only 3 weeks old! Spent an hour on the phone to report the incident and after being transferred thru a circle of people who could give a shit, I just hung up

What did you do to your WK2 today?

Saw a woman passenger in a black Audi Q5 strain her neck staring at my Jeep as they drove by while I was waiting for a red light.

I also filled it with gas and used the flipper glass to load the backend for a weekend getaway.

For a normal street machine, none. For a race car, air plane it reduces the chance of a fire starting inside the tire from extreme heat buildup. Air is already 80% nitrogen. Filling the tire with pure nitrogen just drop the percentage of oxygen to low single digits.

Actually the main reason is that Nitrogen is less likely to migrate through tire rubber than air that is only approx. 75% Nitrogen. This means that tires filled with pure Nitrogen will hold pressure more consistently. This is very important in race cars, where the slightest change could effect a race cars handling.

In aircraft, as well as auto, tires that are purged with Nitrogen are also more moisture free. Several of the air compressor systems used in service stations and dealerships have a great deal of water in the system. Especially in warm, humid climates. Nitrogen is an inherent dehydrator. When your tires are purged with Nitrogen, they are filled and drained several times in order to remove all of the air. This also helps remove any moisture as well. Any tire filled with moist air will vary in pressure far more as the temperature of the tire increases or decreases. The less pressure variation a tire goes through as it warms up or cools down, the better. Nitrogen helps insure this.

What did you do to your WK2 today?

Installed 1.25" Bora spacers along with the gorilla black lug nuts. Probably the best mod i've done so far, love the look.
