What did you guys accomplish with your Jeeps this weekend? I was quite surprised that it was able to pull out the lilac bush (rather tree at this point.) if the strap would have been longer I would have actually jerked on it, I was afraid of it ending up in the back window though. I do have to question why it automatically starts in 2nd gear instead of 1st gear though, I just used the paddle shifters to get into 1st.

Annual engine bay detailing. I didn't do as meticulous of a job this year due to cooler weather and it was raining off and on.

I actually spread all this out over the past several days but I just finished with everything an hour ago. I'm on the final day of a 5-day COVID quarantine. I was bored, felt fine and just wanted something to do. :)

Changed the spark plugs, I see why the stealerships charge an arm and a leg for it. I also took a look at my oil filter housing to make sure it hadn't developed a leak like they're known to and While I got down that far I figured I might as well change the gaskets for the lower and upper intake manifold even though they were still in great shape. You definitely have to be 6ft plus to do this job without a ladder, I'm 6ft 2in and even then so it'll still hurt your back and my calves feel like they're on fire fromt tip toeing. If you take a look at the image of the engine bay, you'll see my legs dangling in the front there, thank God there's a lot of room in the front of the engine bay for me to get my feet down in there and sit somewhat comfortable verses stretching over the hood to do what I had to do for the first 2 hrs. The entire thing took about 5 hours but that's also with removing the lower intake and inspecting the filter housing. It was also my first time but if I had to do it again and i was just doing the plugs I would say 2.5-3ish hours to get it done. Im at 83k miles now, plan on doing the belt, belt tensioner, and pulley next.

I have once again joined the Wildpeak club.

Followed by finding real-deal trails in the mountains of PA

Whereabouts in PA (generally) were you? I've worked the STPR race around Wellsboro (Tioga County) several times, and we also go camping in PA quite often.

Regarding tire sizes, I'm running 275/55R20 BFG AT's in the summer and 255/70R18 Cooper Discoverer M+S snow tires in the winter. Haven't had any rubbing with either of those. Oddly enough, when I recalibrated my speedometer, 2500mm was just about spot-on (referenced with GPS on my radar detector and phone), which is quite a bit shorter than Cooper specs the tires at. They're about half worn, which is about 1/4" (or less) of tread worn so far.

Nice, what size?
I'm debating on the trail version or those.
mostly road, fire trail and construction sites.
These are 275/65/18, and at first I thought there was no rubbing at all. The installation techs said none, and I made a few full turns in normal ride height and didn't hear rub, but now I have experienced a couple rubs 2 or 3 times when pulling out of parking lots etc. May be fixable via trimming felt liner, we'll see.

If you want guaranteed no rubbing, I think 265/65/18 are the way to go.

Spec shows your size is 32.1 OD.
from what I see on these boards, 32 is the largest without mods, so it’s close, squared shoulder and aggressive tread probably a factor.
the trail only comes in 255, not a huge difference compared to the 265.
Thanks for the info. Looks great

edit. I’m running wrangler Sahara rims for the winter so the offset comes into play a bit

I joined the Wildpeak AT3W group, with my usual size of 255/70-18 mounted on 18” Black Rhino York wheels (which I’ve had for some years more). My JGC has 133,000 miles and I plan to drive her until the wheels fall off.

So far I’m really happy with the Falken Wildpeaks. This is my 3rd set of AT tires, after running Duratracs and KO2s.

And this past weekend I rented a 29’ RV trailer for a quick weekend roadtrip of 1,000 miles. The trip went pretty well but the trailer is a bit much for the JGC. I won’t tow anything that big again. Thread and other pictures here, RV trailer — towing, renting and traveling with one.

Fitted Kleinn Windshield Washer Fluid Heater. Winters aren't too harsh here but had similar in the past to help ease bug removal so dual purpose reason for install. Took about 20 mins to install neatly & amazed how warm it gets within a minute or so. Definitely a worth while purchase

This one’s always on. It’s got a relay in it like the aftermarket DRL kits where it turns on if the voltage is about 14, ie engine running. There are some that are thermostat & activate below 5C but as I wanted one for bug clearing too, I wanted an always active version. It’s connected as close to the water jet as I could get it so it’s able to supply a permanent supply of warm water. Some, like the mopar kit heat the washer fluid tank & rely engine temp so take ages to warm up & others can’t heat quick enough so once the water is dispersed from the tube, it takes a few mins to get the next lot of warm water. I’m impressed with this so far but it’s still not that cold here yet

Well technically all I did was tug on a piece of fabric, but, next I guess I'll be reading up on headliner removal to fix/replace my sunshade. The edging on nearly all of the sunshade (both sides) has detached from the fabric (was glued, glue no good anymore) and no longer runs properly within the track.

Plasti-dipped my winter wheels. They were left over from my 2016 Summit, I could have left them as is but I like the look of the (2018) High Altitude with Graphite Metallic trim. The color is spot on (DipYourCar.com 'Stealth Gray'). This is my first try at this, and I'm happy but I got some runs and drips - you have to do several very light coats first and I got impatient apparently. Another tip - they say to use their release agent on the tires rather than mask, but I would suggest doing both - use the release agent, but mask farther out on the tires - the spray thins out there, and the stuff is only easy to peel off the tire if it's thick enough.

Changed brake pads front & rear... man that 11mm allen key is hard to find. Otherwise piece of cake job. Next week = spark plugs.

Pad note -- 90k miles. front pad wore about 2.5 mm, could have kept them on longer. rear wore 3 mm. harbor freight measurement accuracy.

big week here... changed spark plugs at 90k after the pads. Really pretty easy except for one wire harness attachment point that got in the way of the rearward bracket bolt on the driver side. between pads and plugs i "saved" myself nearly $900 according to dealer quotes today.

P.S. OK the other not so easy was the rearward throttle body nut. Almost lost it on the way out.

Couple weeks late on this but had a service engine light, took it in and turned out to be a cracked Evap line. Dealer took care of it using my warranty (Zurich) and it was only a 100 deductible.

Thanks! I replaced the factory HID headlights which I'll send back to Morimoto for their Paid to Trade program. According to their trade-in calculator, I can get $600 for my stock headlights, so getting 1/3 back of the price of the new headlights isn't too shabby.

Light output seems to be on par with the Osram CBI bulbs I had in my stock headlights. The most noticeable difference though is that the Morimoto's have a razor sharp cutoff line.

I also just installed the Morimoto XB headlights and fog lights on my 2018 Trailhawk. Upgraded from the terrible OEM halogens and they are a massive improvement. Makes the vehicle look brand new and the light output is exceptional. I was considering ordering the OEM HIDs with the custom harness, but these Morimotos come with everything you need in the box and look even better than the OEM HIDs. The sequential turn signals are a great touch. If anyone has questions or would like more photos, let me know!

Looking good! Should also mention the Morimoto's come with a 5 year warranty :)

What’s the application version number of your radio after the update? Press and hold front defrost and the driver temperature up and down buttons (press and hold all three at the same time for about seven seconds) until the Dealer Mode screen appears. Then go to “System Information” or ”Radio Part Information” and you should see a line for “application version.” It will look something like “USA-ASO-8.4-QR-39.5.0-…..”

The latest version that I know of for UAQ and UAV radios is 39.5.0. Biggest change from older versions is that all of your radio and bluetooth controls are now combined under a single “media” button (rather than having separate buttons for “radio” and “media”).
