Mine talks about the sunroof (which I don't have) and wind buffetting...

It starts on P266 in my manual. And it says (or rather, typed)

"The rear power outlet can be switched from switched "ignition" only to constant battery powered all the time. See your local authorised dealer for details."

So, with this in mind do you have any further details on how to swap this over?

Thanks.

In the fuse box under the bonnet, identify fuse F90/F91. Looking closely, you will see that if removed you can reinsert the fuse "moved across" a little bit. There are three connections available for the two pins of the fuse. Utilise the one currently unused and the rear power sockets will be permanent 12v.

Note that the wiring is a bit light on for continuous fridge use. It'll work, but there will be measurable voltage drop.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Thanks guys. Just swapped the fuse over. The slot for those who aren't familiar with this "mod" is elongated with 3 contacts. I'm guessing that the centre one goes to the outlet whilst the two outer ones are the switched and direct connect contacts.

Just checked it and yes, with the engine off there's power to it.

Now to see how fast I can flatten the battery with the Waeco fridge in there...

Where did you end up getting that cover?

Is it OEM?

My bit of OCD would want the "proper" looking cover to go with all the others, as opposed to one that ends up looking different.

My guess is he swapped the hidden one from the center counsel.

Almost! When I replaced my centre console from the one 90% filled with a CD player to the one with extensive space they both had a battery labelled power socket on it, leaving me a left over

Not what I did, but my family just purchased it's 4th WK2. All 4 are Overland EcoDiesels with ORAII. Only differences are year, color, and Tech package.
