With a 5000+ lb vehicle and capable drive train, that kind of utility is useful.
yeah, exactly. that's kind of the point.

Silver'...it was mentioned recently but I cannot find it or confirm it. "Supposedly" there is an alternative part for that filler area that has removable sections for tow hooks. Again...I can't find the reference at this point, but it's work asking parts folks if someone wants to make the mod on an HA or Summit before they go through the pain of cutting things.

Thanks Jim, Im not surprised demand has built to create a part like that, just like folks demanded the skids and jeep added those as a summit option later on. Be nice if the new part totally covered them and just had a pop out cover when or if needed. Im fine with how mine are as long as you get black they are mostly hidden but glad to see folks may have an option now.Even very mild off road like the beach where it is easy to get stuck no matter how careful you might be, they are a nice to have just incase.

In regards to the Summit filler plates for the tow hooks, I was at the dealership getting some recall work done and on the lot was (2) 2016 Summit's so I took a look for these "plates". Both had a removable plate in the area of where a tow hook would go but it was only on the passenger side of the honeycomb fascia NOT on the driver side.

Interesting, i wonder if thats an access port for that eyelet hook thing they had previously put on the exports since there is only one? Would not be as robust as the standard 2 big hooks but could serve the purpose in a fix. Now we just need to pop that pannel an see if there is actually anything back there.

The 2 standard oem hooks stick out beyond the honey comb area so there must be someting else back there. The export eyelet or some other modified hook back there.

I was thinking it was removable so you could add the hooks if desired, as you did, without all the work that you went through on your Summit. When I realized it was on one side only that squashed that thought. Why would you only want one hook? I also noticed that on the Jeep Renegade and 75th Anniv. Grand Cherokee the tow hooks are coated with a Line-X type material to match the vehicle color.
