What did you do to your WK2 today?

Yes! My rear and quarter are 40 on top of the factory tint so I'm guessing mine are like a 30 altogether. Otherwise you can do 20 or 30 for aesthetics at the front as well. Either light or dark the invisible light rejection would be the same.

I mentioned in another thread had ceramics in my Audi all around. And since the car had a softer glass, the amount of cooling it did one day in the cabin versus the external heat made my glass crack after being baked for over 8 hours and once I opened the door due to the sudden change in temp. I don't think American glass is soft as my previous Dodge vehicle withstood multiple stone projectiles in 5 years versus the Audi which I changed the glass twice over the same time frame.

3. ceramic - injecting ceramic into the polymer as they create the film. This means no metallic particles, excellent heat rejection, and the ability to make it almost transparent as you can see.

Our idea of tint is that the darker it is, the more it rejects heat. Which is true to a point - it rejects heat from visible light. But as for infra-red light, that's where the ceramic shines. No need for a dark tint.
WOW! Great explanation. I had Llumar Airblue 80 put on my windshield. Reduced glare, definitely blocks much of the heat here in S. Florida. I'm about to do the side windows. It doesn't block my gate opener, toll pass, etc.

Haven't heard of this ceramic but have seen tint on Windows where it turned purple..never could figure out what that was.

He he. I try. Yeah Llumar is another great brand (Eastman of Eastman Kodak) and their Airblue series definitely rocks.

That's the problem with low quality dyes as the black starts to fade.

It just occurred to me that a load of heat must be transmitted through the panaramic sun roof, even with the shade closed. I think I'll get it done along with the sides.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Yeah that would be great and as pricey as tinting the windshield.

Yup. The windshield alone cost me $120. I'll try to negotiate better on the next job.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

How far down did you do the windshield without affecting the sensors in the rear view mirror?

The tinting goes on the inside. The mirror and mounting containing all the electronics is flush on the windshield so the tint is cut around that. Rain sensing wipers, auto high beams, auto dimming all unaffected.

You did a strip at the top or the entire windshield?

Entire windshield. There is a very faint blue tint and it only blocks a very small amount of light. No problem at all, even at night. Before I had it done I was concerned about it being too dark but it turned out great. I don't even notice it except during the day when it reduces a bit of the harsh glare from the sun. I'm happy with it. That's why I will do the side windows and sun roof.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I never thought of doing the entire windshield, initially it seems like my vision would be blocked especially at night.
