I alway do 40% in the entire windshield and 20% all Windows in all of my cars here in Florida. I don't even have to use sunglasses. At night is pretty much visible with not problem at all.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I would say as long as you stick to any of the leading glass/polymer chemical company offering tints these days have their dyes figured out to delay the fading.

But if you want to avoid this, just go ceramic tints. Here are the respectable polymer manufacturers that I know of from checking the tint I got:

1. Eastman Chemical Co. (of Eastman Kodak) - Huper Optik, Llumar, FormulaOne, V-Kool, Gila...
2. 3M - 3M Automotive Films
3. Saint Gobain (produces plastics for aerospace, automotive, home, etc) - Solar Gard
4. Lintec - Madico, SunGard

The important thing is that the installer is a certified dealer and has been doing tints for quite some time so that he knows how to work with the tint film he's using and can get support should there be warranty work needed.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

When using ceramic tints are you giving up the usual darkness of tinting for the reflection of the suns rays?

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Ceramic is just the material that reflects the uv and infra red rays.

As for blocking the light transmission, you can still go dark on ceramics down to 10 which is like limo tint.

It's just the old days they relied on dyes 100% to do the invisible light and visible light blocking which we know now isn't effective.

What did you do to your WK2 today?

Here's my 3M paint protection film installation:

Overall shot to show its not readily apparent:
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1468190785.949720.jpg

Closeup of the hood shows the edge of the film if you look closely. I chose the partial hood install than an overkill full hood. This takes the place of an auto bra:
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1468190857.499151.jpg

This is the bumper install that basically covers the full bumper from the grill rings all the way down to the underside below the chrome piece. I you look closely below the amber signal you'll see the lines:
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1468190997.266154.jpg

All of the above was a 3M cutout from their template for the installer. However the one below is a freehand cutting. They don't offer the rear sides which I requested. I find apart from a straight bump, people tend to scrape the side bumpers when coming in and out of parking next to you including parallel parking.

The line is not the obvious straight line you immediately see. That's just the light reflection from the curve of the bumper. The line is actually the one right after the sensor. If you're staring at the obvious line, its a couple more to the left of it and before the sensor.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

More chrome delete

1. Removed Grand Cherokee on doors
2. Replaced hood and deck with black "JEEP" logo
3. Plasti dipped roof rack rails
4. Removed all emblems on rear, leaving ECODIESEL
5. Replaced chrome light bezels with SRT black Bezels

Still to come, window trim delete, and rear bumper chrome. Plan on wrapping with Gloss Black. May wrap front grill that is currently plasti dipped.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

New Choos installed today...Pirelli Scorpion Verde Plus. OEM 265-50-20. Very nice.

The good news from my inspection is that the brakes are only half-used. And that's at 71K miles. I guess I should start using them occasionally. The bad news is that one wheel lug was damaged and there's some rust on the hub that my installer was concerned with, so I made an appointment with Jeep service to check that out under my MaxCare contract.
