the units themselves are very nice, black internal housing, and the straight LED (not angled bottom like OEM). thats my favorite part.

were well sealed from my eye..but added some silicon around the edges to make sure of it.

Take a look....

Looks so cool. How much that headlights cost you?

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Tuesday got front tints and clear bra. Yesterday sadly installed the front lic plate bracket. Today dropped her off for a Bel STiR+ install and front dash cam hardwire.

Pics to follow.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I just rejoiced that it reached its last train stop. It now sits just an hour an a half from the dealer.

My '14 sat in this same station for four days.

I know how you feel. My 17 was sitting at the dealer over a week before I could get her. Yours is an hour away; I could see and touch but couldn't ride mine. Same frustration I felt when I was in the Navy.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Installed the Bell STiR+. Display was mounted lower left of windshield behind the city sticker. Mute button under drivers left hand vent. I am a righty but couldn't find a better place. The antenna is behind the center ring with a mostly direct and clear view. I have left the escort radar in the window for comparison.

You can also see the Dash Cam which was hardwired.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Why didn't you hardwire and mount the radar detector above as well?

EDIT:

Ah nevermind. I mis-read the post. I thought it was a two-piece system. The one in the middle is your old one for comparison.

That's a good clean install then.

When you say antenna, that's the sensors then? So they eliminated the sensors on the actual display I assume? What about the rear sensors?

Sorry, antenna as in the head unit, or the radar receiver that mounts in the bumper. In the STiR+, it a laser detector too but not a scrambler. I didn't want it behind the bumper since laser doesn't penetrate the plastic. So I had it installed behind the ring.

There are no sensors on the display. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1473440969.590647.jpg

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Ah, cool. That's a multi-piece system. I saw the pricing. Holy Cow. Definitely needs professional installation for an ultimate clean look.

The laser receiver behind the grill does make sense.

Does this unit detect if the threat is coming from the rear (not rear laser), but basic speed radar? Was just curious how this set up functions versus the traditional one piece system.

Radar is a wide beam so if radar is coming from the back, it will bounce off of oncoming cars or anything in front of you and set off the front sensor an the way back to the radar gun.
