If the officer doesn't leave the radar on until they see you visually speeding, then turns it on and gets the immediate reading your goose is cooked. Physics won't allow your 4000 pound vehicle to slow down fast enough and by the time you get the signal within the vehicle it's too late also but it's always worth a try 😎

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I've always contended that radar detectors will get you more tickets then they'll get you out of. That, along with those license plate lenses that won't allow your plate to be photographed. When a cop pulls you over for whatever, and he see's all that crap on and in your vehicle, he's more inclined to start writing. Because he immediately thinks your a smart ass trying to outwit the law.

Many cops will approach open minded to see what you will say. Usually if you're apologetic and admit to fault, they very well may let you off with a warning. But if he figures you paid over $200.00 for some fancy radar detector so you can speed and get away with it, he's going to be much more likely to pick up his pen and start writing.

Those plate covers that blur your numbers are illegal in a lot of states and just an easy reason to give you a ticket just by itself. I think radar detectors went by the way side with the last episode of CHIPS and smokey and the bandit. Poor Cletus

Radar detectors are illegal here, the police actually have radar detector detectors and confiscate them from people and fine them.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

You have to know your local laws. If they are illegal, then why bother installing.

Radar detectors are not fool proof nor is it a pass to speed beyond the limit. It's just a sense check that the vehicles around you and including you might be over speeding.

Out of the years crossing the US border with a radar detector and now a dash cam, I've never gotten crap from the border guards. No one asked me why I have a radar detector despite them monitoring the area and blatantly leaving their speed guns always on.

I thought that's why cars have speedometers?

When it comes to rules pertaining to automobiles, Americans feel they infringe on their Constitutional Rights (really they just don't care). Hand held cell phones and texting are illegal while driving in many, if not all states. A report published recently said that way over 50% of people questioned basically said, "Catch me if you can".

If you read posts about front license plates, many people refuse to install them, because they ruin the lines of the car. So they break the law because the front of the car which they can't see when they are driving isn't pretty.

Basically more and more people feel the world revolves around them and the hell with everyone else. And this is not some bunch of anarchists, these are just regular folks who want it their way.

Lol. True. But unless they beep as we'll when going over a set limit like my Audi, I'm not one to constantly look.

You can set your Jeep to warn you when you go aver the speed limit. It's in the UConnect settings.
