The longer black pieces hanging down are the original mounting system that were intended to bolt under the front and come up to hold the Bar about 200mm lower than I mounted mine. I used these brackets to hold the bar in place using existing bolt holes and cut these brackets off level with the lower part of the gal angle All painted black since.

There are different nudge bars for 20i3 and 2014 models. I suspect they sent me the earlier bar but since I wanted it higher anyway it suited me to modify it. The later models seem to have a bracket coming off the bar to mount to the same place I did and then continue the stainless down so it looks like it is going under the front.... like most nudge bars also pretend to do.

Will look up bar suppliers. Found it on Aust Ebay for about 340 out of sydney.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Connected a Mirror Tap harness and mounted my Beltronics STi using a semi-permanent 3M mount... so tired of the suction cups and never really liked the blend mounts.

Also, word to the wise, avoid the ebay version of the mirror tap harness. It shorted itself and also blew a fuse... which apparently is hard to find, even at a dealership.

I didn't take any at the time but went out and grabbed a couple. I'll have to get some better ones in better lighting.

First oil change today, went with Royal Purple. I also installed the Fumoto valve which has been waiting in the wings since before I took delivery.

What did you do to your WK2 today?

Added two bottles of Heet and then filled up the gas tank and loaded tire chains and safety gear into the back of the JGC Trailhawk in preparation for driving to the top of Pikes Peak (14,110ft) to watch the fireworks set off by the AdAmAn Club at midnight and then driving a couple of the climbers back down the mountain.

The AdAmAn Club started hiking to the top of Pikes Peak for New Year's Eve in 1922 and adds a new member every year.
The local 4 Wheeling clubs have been volunteering to pick the climbers up and drive them back down for decades.

The climbers take two days to hike up starting on Dec 30th and usually get to the top around 7pm on the 31st. At 9 pm they fire off 5 fireworks mortars in honor of the original 1922 "Frozen Five" hikers.

We drive up starting at 10:30pm on the 31st and reach the summit at about 11:45pm just in time to watch the fireworks go off at midnight basically 30-50 feet above and infront of us with the city lights as a backdrop. Then at 12:30 we gather up the hiker s and drive back down usually taking about 2 hours to safely get them back to the trailhead parking lot.

This year the temperature is forecast to be -1F at midnight with a -15 windchill.

I first volunteered in 2003/2004 driving my soft top TJ and that year it was -35 windchill with 30mph wind gusts.

It's an exciting 19 mile summer drive in the daytime climbing 6,000 feet on shelf road switchbacks. It's really fun at night in the winter.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

It was a great trip up and down and not very windy at the top so only about -5 with the windchill and fireworks went off directly overhead with sparks falling in front of us over the edge. The hikers I drove down had each been doing the climb for 25 and 27 years.
