That's pretty slick.

Can you easily remove the ladder when you don't need it?

For that matter, can it work without the rack?

I would have liked to watch them install it. I can't imagine how they get it so straight, even, and perfect. All with no bubbles. And they only have one crack at it. Hell, I have trouble putting a protective screen cover on my cell phone!

You can remove it, but not easily. Nothing on the ladder (or the roof rack) drills into the jeep, so its 100% reversable, but there are plates at the top and bottom that are stuck to the door using some double sided tape, which means you'd probably want new tape if you were putting it back on. That said, the door is still 100% functional with the ladder on it, so I doubt I'll take it off anytime soon!

it totally works without the rack, it just happens that you get a free ladder when you buy the rack from GOBI Honestly when I was putting it on, it crossed my mind a few times that with a few modifications on GOBIs part, you could put it dead center and find a way to attach the spare tire to it, Like the Wranglers have it. You'd probably need a new gas spring with all that weight, but beyond that it should work. Of course that's just me dreaming

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Got my new replacement mirrors delivered today. The Billet silver covers are going to look a hell of a lot better than those cheap looking chrome ones. Removing the covers are little bit of a pita as 2 out of the 5 clips are hidden underneath the motor. Nothing too bad though just have to have a little patience.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

Not to the Grand Cherokee, but this morning the wife and I spent the better part of 6 hours cleaning out the garage. It really needed it. We hauled everything out, and hosed the entire floor out. It was really dirty.

After that I bought 2 new 6 rack shelves and got everything organized and in it's place up off the floor. It was a back breaking ordeal, but worth the effort. I've been meaning to do it for some time now, and buying the new Jeep gave me the incentive to do it. Now all I have left to do is make a dumpster run with all the crap I no longer want or need.

I have a new rule. With the exception of tools, if I don't use it for 2 years or more, it either gets tossed, or sold if it's worth anything. I'm tired of having all this crap build up. All a bigger house or garage does is hold more junk!

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

I took it to be detailed today. They did a reasonably good job, except they didn't get all the bugs off the front before putting the wax on. I didn't tell my wife I was having it done, and when she walked out she said it looked great and asked if they waxed it. I also installed the new Canvasback cargo liner and installed the front license plate bracket. I was going to hold off, but it turns out that the state police like to use the same car wash that I went to, and the friendly trooper asked me where my plate was

Re: What did you do to your WK2 today?

...I plugged the passenger side windscreen washer tube back into the nozzle... LOL The single side squirt just wasn't clearing the pollen off the window. (It had fallen off all by itself for some reason) Major maintenance, I know!

Took her in to get its scheduled 20,000 mile service. They did some recalls with the service, but didn't update my maps in my navigation
