What does the powertrain warranty really cover?

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland that is out of the regular warranty but still covered under the powertrain warranty. I do not have any experience using a powertrain warranty so I am not sure what it covers.

Last night my MIL light came on and when I pulled the code it is P0302, misfire cylinder 2. Depending on whether this is simply a spark park or something far more significant, from other's experience what are my chances of this being covered by the powertrain warranty?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Is this a V6?

If so, it is likely covered by Chrysler; they are offering free repairs for cracked left cylinder heads on certain vehicles with model years from 2011 through 2013, with coverage jumping to 10 years or 150,000 miles.

Yes, I have the V6.

Thanks to both of you for the info. Will certainly help with my dealer, if necessary.

I know a lot of people complain about the V6 and related issues but I still love my Jeep.

The dealer will know all about it ... you won't have any issues.

Well it is a cracked left cylinder head. Covered under the powertrain warranty and will be repaired by COB Thursday.

Re: What does the powertrain warranty really cover?

Good news on your repair.

I was thinking we should have a "sticky" in the repair section that deals with "Problem/ Repair Cost" for exact problems like yours. As our WK2's get older and repairs are required, I would like to know what possible costs might occur down the road/ or what warranty covered

I wanna see what the instrument cluster/ screen would cost to replace

Al

Re: What does the powertrain warranty really cover?

I picked my 2011 up tonight. May trade it for a 2015 Overland. Dealer made me a good offer. Hard decision.
