Re: What Gas Station do you use?

I always try and stop at Shell stations. I have a Shell station around the corner from my house that sells ethanol-free 89 octane so I always get that.

Re: What Gas Station do you use?

Chevron and Mobil/Exxon are my preferred brands. If neither is within my distance then I go with Shell, Costco, or 76, whichever is closer and try to avoid all others.

Re: What Gas Station do you use?

Royal Farms, as they are the closest high volume station. Prior to their opening I went to Wawa, a mile further down the road.

Re: What Gas Station do you use?

It's regional to my area (I think) but Quik Trip is awesome. Other than that Dillon's (Kroger) cause of the discount.

Re: What Gas Station do you use?

Whatever is the cheapest here. I do not keep them long enough to worry about who has better gas.

I always mix but only between three different brands... By my house there are Chevron, Shell, and Mobil... But out of all three I feel Shell and Mobil give me better mileage. Don't get me wrong chevron is great but the prices aren't. 91 octane is the way to go !

Re: What Gas Station do you use?

Exxon here. May be in my head but my Jeep feels like it runs much smoother on Exxon gas. I put Kroger gas in it on a recent trip from my parents, it seemed to burn quicker and the gas mileage tanked. Exxon all the way.

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

Re: What Gas Station do you use?

Top tier gas is top tier gas. All the major refineries use their own super secret formulas whether it is Shell, Unocal, or Chevron Tecroline or whatever. However, I don't care to use Mom and Pop gas stations---I don't think they get premium blended fuels. Kinda like cheap Chinese restaurants serving junk tea as oppose to premium aged fermented Oolong. But tea is tea, right?

Are there actually minor refineries?

I work for a major oil co. at a distribution terminal, and here is how this works: ALL the gasoline comes out of the same storage tanks, one for regular, one for premium, to the loading rack to be loaded onto the tanker trucks. stored in separate tanks are various additives, shell, sunoco, hess, exxon/mobil, and "generic" which are injected into the stream as the product is loaded into the trucks. when the truck driver acceses the computer to load the truck, depending on which customer he chooses, the additive pump for that customer will be activated. If the customer is not one of the majors such as shell, sunoco, etc. the generic pump will be activated, and that additive will be used, mostly for unbranded, and as you said, mom & pop stations. federal law requires all gasoline to contain an additive, which makes the fuel burn cleaner, and reduce emissions. so the only difference is the additive, and if this helps, the majors tend to use a higher concentration than the others.
