and decided to fold down your back seat and go to sleep in the back of your GC. :sleepy: With your key fob inside the car and the doors locked, could someone just walk up to the vehicle, place their hand on the door handle and unlock the doors?
The answer is no. The sensors can detect whether the fob is inside the car or outside. Try locking your keys in. The door locks won't lock. I trust it 99.9% ;-)
Another example would be if you were sitting at a stop light and someone ran up to the car and tried to carjack you by opening the door. I would think the Jeep safety design people certainly would have thought of this scenario and prevented the door from unlocking if the key fob is inside the vehicle. Hopefully this is the case.

No, the doors will not unlock if the fob isn't within range of the outside of the vehicle on the door specifically being touched to open it. I know this to be a fact since if I'm on the driver's side with my fob and my wife is on the passenger side touching her door does nothing. Additionally, if the fob is sensed on an interior sensor it overrides any "leakage" to the exterior sensors.
I remember someone mentioning on a post long ago that the only way to lock your keys inside the vehicle is press the lock button on fob while when sitting inside. So if you press the lock button on the fob while inside the vehicle the doors will lock, contrary to pressing lock button on door handle (doors will not lock if fob is detected inside). And like someone mentioned above, since the fob is not outside the vehicle the doors cannot be unlocked via proximity entry, if that makes sense.

This question/topic sounds like the start of a bad movie with some guy making a classic horror movie mistake. And I'm on the couch yelling "don't pull in to that rest stop!!!!"
