Re: What was your 2nd choice?

Here's the problem, IMHO, there was no second choice. I knew I wanted the JGC diesel from the moment I heard the rumors of Jeep making them well over a year ago. When I saw the video from the Detroit Auto Show last January, I was hooked. When Jeep kept delaying month, after month, after month....... I started looking for a "second choice". The problem, is I could not find a second choice that I wanted, so I stuck it out. At 8:33 last night, my new JCG diesel was finally released from the plant. Now my first (and only) choice is on its way

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

No second choice.

I saw the spy shots of the WK2 and decided I will be replacing my old ZJ with it. I never buy the first year model, so it was 2012.

When it came to buying a new Jeep for my old Jeep, I wanted to get a 2012 JKU Sahara. Test drove 3 times and went inside to order one since they did not have one in my color (Crush with hard & soft top)/specs in the lot or any other dealer nearby. While waiting to order, I told the sales guy... "I am going to buy the Wrangler anyways, why don't I test drive the new GC". Sat in a limited, drove 10 feet and said "Forget the wrangler, I want the GC". A week later, I bought my Jeep.

The GC is extremely comfortable and every time I see a JKU on the road, I feel that I should have gotten it. But, then, when I am in my WK2, I feel very happy with the purchase.

Cheers,
-A

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

Really no second choice. Wanted the JGC pretty badly. However a distant third was the Volvo xc60 r design, but couldn't really stand the old engine & tranny they have. Besides that I was looking at the Audi a7 & lastly the range rover evoque, but these last two are over price for what you get.

Second place was the Audi Q5, with 3.0 supercharged engine. Damn that thing was fast and really rode on rails.....but it ain't no Jeep!

Sold my wife rubicon this week and been looking at everything! The q5 and q7 are nice..but even the q5 optioned out is more than the summit. The 3.o supercharged in those is really nice. In the end...we decided we didnt need 2 SUV's and we got a 13 A7 premium plus.

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

Other Choices were:

2nd Place: Range Rover Sport
Pros - Almost as fast as the SRT while maintaining some Off Road ability
Cons - More expensive than either the SRT or regular WK2; Not as reliable as the WK2

3rd Place: Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Pros - As fast as the SRT while still maintaining some Off Road ability
Cons - Twice as expensive as either WK2; Not nearly as good looking as the WK2

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

Thanks for all the responses so far - great information provided. Didn't see anyone mention the Lincoln MKX or the Buick Enclave, or any of the Lexus models - something wrong with those, or just not really in the same category?

Lexus has some 4wds, but their Toyota equivalents are better value, and as a Xover, the Acura seems a bit better put together.

Lincoln anything? Sells to an entirely different market. This being nicey nicey week, I'll refrain from characterizing that market other than as folks who like a lot of bling and don't care what kind of crap is under it.

Buick? I'm almost 70, but I ain't old enough to drive a Buick.
