Why is that? Not enjoying your GC?

My other choices were
Range rover - the design of the new one annoys me a bit
GL 450 for the 7 seats
I owned both of these before and the WK2 is such a better value it's not even a match.

Ended up getting a 2012 grand Cherokee and now I have a Durango on order for the 7 seat trips.

Now both my jeep and Durango are the same price as buying a supercharged rang rover or an AMG GL.
So I have 2 cars to play with and I can afford some upgrades as well.......

I hear ya! Love the older design but they are too heavy and too unreliable.
Not a fan of the newer grille or those headlights...

After seeing the Top Gear(UK) review on the new Range Rover Sport I must say I am really impressed with its abilities.

I will be the odd one out and say I prefer the lights and grille to the previous model. (Probably because I like the looks of the Evoque too)

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

I looked at the Chrysler 300's. The dealer had several 2013 S (sport) models, fully loaded, 8.4'' nav, AWD, 8 speed, back up camera, panaramic sunroof, etc etc for the same price as base Laredos.

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

I wanted to buy an SUV this time as we are moving to northern Michigan soon. I kept waiting for the new Cherokee to be released to the Dealers so I could try it out. (Many don't, but I like the looks of it.) Went into a Jeep dealer to see if they had any idea when they would be getting some in. They had no idea.

My better half took a look at the JGC Laredo and asked to test drive it to get an idea of size. Bottom line: LOVED the ride of the Laredo, decided the smaller Cherokee would be a bit small, and put an Overland on Order last week.

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

I honestly didn't drive or look at any others due to discounts. I would have been interested in an Explorer or Durango. The dealer also had discounted Durangos when I was looking, but they were Hemis. I wanted the V6 for better MPG. I often wish I had the 3rd row. With 2 kids, we can only haul 1 extra friend.

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

I test drove and considered a gloss black Porsche Cayenne, however the one on the way over the Atlantic Ocean did not have bi-xenon headlights, and this was May 2011 and Jeep promised an SRT and early indications were it would be available in gloss black and less than $50,000. Well Jeep screwed me over on price and color of the new SRT so I bought a brilliant black 2012 Overland Hemi as I like the styling and options better than the Cayenne and didn't want to order and wait or pay more. The Cayenne 8 speed shifting was undetectable and it always displayed what gear you were in, and the interior was nicer in some respects, at least I preferred the piano black accents and it was roomier than the Grand Cherokee too. Love my Overland though.

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

I almost bought a used 2010 Range Rover HSE fully loaded for a little more than my Summit. Love the look and interior if the RR, but my sensibilities kicked in and went with the new 2013 Summit. I still 2nd guess myself when I see a RR, but all in all i am glad I bought new.

Don't second guess, I had a 2010 range, it's an old design. Pretty good car but the ugly metal THUD when you close rear hatch reminds you it's old.

Also infotainment is not up to par.

Re: What was your 2nd choice?

I was very close to purchasing an X5 but decided to be patriotic and get a Jeep instead. I really do love this vehicle but reliability makes me nervous. I was going to trade up to an SRT but have now fallen in love with the M4.
