Re: What would be a mid size 14 summit?

My Summit is just as easy to drive and park as my '06 Highlander Hybrid Limited was...including tight turning radius.

It really just takes some time to get used to it. I have always driven small sedans until my JGC. It took me a couple months to get comfortable parking it. Now it's no problem at all.

Re: What would be a mid size 14 summit?

The only big difference is that its needs good amount of room to brake. It doesnt brake like a sedan or crossover. You can feel the 5000+ lbs when braking.

It stops a lot quicker than my Buick Enclave did.

Kinda like stopping a train from 60-70 mph, at least a mile!

Re: What would be a mid size 14 summit?

The JGC does have a really tight turning radius, it is VERY nice.

But it's also pretty wide. It's 6" wider than my old Explorer was. And I know I'm still getting used to its limits with visibility, with the high window sills, etc. So I can see how someone could find it a little bit intimidating to park.

Re: What would be a mid size 14 summit?

When I was looking for new vehicles I checked out the new RDX and it's a decent SUV but it's AWD is not full time just when wheel slippage/bad conditions are detected. Also make sure to test drive one to see if the passenger seat not being height adjustable is an issue.

The reason I mention the full time AWD/4wd is I have driven two Rav4 AWD models which is not full time and compared to my previous Highlander in snow I preferred the Highlanders full time AWD mode. Now if that doesn't concern you there are plenty of vehicles to check out that are smaller than the JGC but have some nice trimmings.

My wife is kind of the same - she doesnt like driving my Liberty because she thinks it's too big (?) The vehicle I'm trying to talk her I to right now is the new mazda cx5. More car like but has about the same cargo space as mine and awfully fun to drive. I'm a big fan of that one.

Have you checked out the Evoque or the LR2?
