really? What function does the head rest do? How do you think it would affect the system if the monitors were to be installed? I am wondering because you are the first person to mention it.
Thanks, Ron

Re: What would you recommend?

Three kids here. Ordered Rear DVD system. Sun is WAY too hot in Utah to ever keep the sunroof open during the summer, and too cold during the winter. We have sunroofs in our other cars and NEVER use them. What is best for you will depend on your situation, and where you live.

Re: What would you recommend?

I say go the panoramic....... I have rear DVD and have never used it. No kids here though

I really believe the "feel" of the big sunroof far outweighs any benefit of integrated DVD.... I do live in Oz though, and I can think of nothing better than reclining in the rear of my WK2, cruising up the beach on a sunny day, tunes crankin, suckin on a beer while one of my buddies drive

If you really need rear screens I'd opt for headrest mounted custom install.
I'll try bite my tongue on saying any more about parents who think their children need to watch a DVD for every trip in the car (long trips, sure, very useful... but on short trips how about just talking to the kids, like the olden days ).......

Re: What would you recommend?

I downloaded the manual. and found the page (thanks for the info). It says that the plastic covers behind the the head rest are only for decoration. So I would think that as long as they would fit the monitors would be fine. I don't know how much space is between the plastic cover and the restraint mechanism.

Re: What would you recommend?

I'd say go with the pano.

It is only a matter of time until MOPAR is going to offer THE PERFECT Headrest-solution, specifically designed for this car.

If I'm not mistaken, such a solution is already mentioned in their brochure (but no price yet). Looking at the hefty sticker-price for the factory DVD-solution, I don't think the aftermarket unit will be much more than that.

And on the Overland, it s*cks big time that you lose the standard pano-roof - a quite expensive option on the other models AND have to pay a huge amount for the DVD-player. That simply doesn't sound right to me.

Re: What would you recommend?

When I was a kid, we often went on long road trips with no TV, no video games, no movies. Sometimes I had some cassette tapes and a walkman, but not usually.

I believe that type of not-being-entertained-every-moment life has a lot to do with why I am a very patient man today. I intend to raise my kids to be patient and not whiny brats whenever they don't have external stimuli. How did kids ever survive in the days before cell phones, ipads, gameboys, TVs (even home TVs), etc?

Do you have a link for the brochure?

I've got two kids and coming from a loaded minivan with flip down DVD I thought I might go w the entertainment package. I havent ordered my overland yet but I decided to keep the pana instead of the DVD when I order it.

As already mentioned in the forum there are tons of other entertainment options for the kiddies for way way less than the $1500 package and loss of a huge sunroof.

As one example you can get a couple itouch for a couple hundred and load them w video and games. A great way to keep them busy and quiet.

I agree. The pricing and logic in that doesn't make sense to me. A roof mount DVD and a few wires to the headunit minus a massive glass panel with motorized mechanism and shade AND pay 1500. Wtf? At least make it an even swap. Maybe 250 max.

Re: What would you recommend?

well....IMO...loose electronic devices(ipad, iotouch, laptops etc) are safety hazards and become missile like in a collision. The sunroof just isnt an important option to me.....my current WK doesnt have one at all.
