Ewww. For the same money look at the much better looking Lexus LX. I'd look at a QX80 too, and the redesigned one comes out this fall I believe.

Re: Whats after the Jeep?

After driving the Jeep many times back and forth and trying to take into consideration poor dealership experience on all levels I decided to custom order the BMW X3 for another 3 years. Got a good deal for an X3 at least and will stay with that for a while. Maybe I'll be back in 3 years again.

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

I had 2 MDX's in a row 03 and 08 and they were both bulletproof.... But my dealers were 2 hrs away. That's why I went with the JGC. It depend on where you want to go and what you like. I am buying my wife a F Pace as we want to be an all Diesel family. MUCH better mileage and there is not another SUV out there that matched the F Pace in styling, handling, mileage and it is already an approved US diesel. My JGC had overall been a dependable vehicle and I plan on keeping it till the new 2020 model year, If that one looks good, might buy another...If not, off to another brand... Good luck...

Smile Re: Whats after the Jeep?

Well, I decided to lease a new 2017 MDX Advance with Entertainment package. It's loaded, third row seat, and is great on the highway (I work from home but drive far when seeing clients).

I tried to stick with Jeep but dealers near me wouldn't come close on what I was paying. Candidly, The MDX community isn't nearly as strong as this forum so I may be back in three years. Modding is part of the fun of ownership (even when leasing...).

I will have a few things for sale in the classifieds soon. Romik running boards (brand new), Sprint Booster, Weathertech mats (front), OEM halogen headlights, etc.

Here's a pic of the new ride before my typical mods (roof rack, splash guards, etc.):

Beautiful ride! I think the new MDX looks great. When I test drove it a couple years ago I loved how soft the seats felt compared to the jeep. Do you mind sharing what lease terms/price you received?

Whats after the Jeep?

Nice MDX! The V6 in that makes the Pentastar feel like an old unrefined piece of crap.

Point counterpoint. I drove the 2017 MDX 2 times and felt like I was in a minivan. Also there was not enough room for my left leg to stretch out with the seat all the way back. I'm only 5 foot 10 also. My wife disliked it even more than me. I don't understand the Penastar comment. The updated engine in the 2017 and 8 speed are incredible together and I could not ask for anything better because it is dialed in perfect. Smooth effortless shifting and fast.

As an owner of a '16 Sienna and 3 other minivans previously (T&C, and 2 Odysseys). I can agree, the interior is like a minivan but smaller space. I have 3 kids so that's not exactly a bad thing. However, it certainly doesn't look like a minivan or drive like one.

My 14 Pentastar was one of the worst engines I've ever owned until the Sprint Booster. The transmission still lagged between shifts (especially when cold) but I got used to it over time. The MDX is considerably faster (around 0-60 in 6.0 sec) and a heck of a lot smoother.

However, don't get me wrong, I really liked my Jeep just wanted something a little more refined this time around.

Idk about the 2017, but my 15 is so unrefined. Vibrations at idle, the horrible sound of ticking and clanking in the mornings. It's sounded that way since new and so have the others I've driven. The Acura is smooth, much faster and v-tech isn't bad either. The Pentastar feels like some cheap engine that is made to be thrown away. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got my X5.

Dunno what's mini van like about the MDX, it's a three row crossover and caters to comfort. 90% of these GCs are basically minivans too lmao

Thanks very much for the compliment. They're definitely nice cars but a little pricey. I had a good year so rewarded myself for my b-day (today!). You can probably pick up a Tech package for around $475 a month with a couple thousand down to cover taxes, etc. All depends on which package/options are important to you. Like most cars these days, there's a pretty wide range.

Edmunds forums are great for researching a lease. I used their figures and an online calculator while in the dealership. I also used carjojo.com as a price comparison tool and it worked very well when pitting dealers against each other (not actually using carjojo.com as a service). I've leased a lot over the years so I somewhat know what I'm doing. Also, I'm not afraid to walk away at any time. Buying a car for me is not an emotional thing in the least and I treat it that way.
