Re: What's your other car?

I've almost been sideswiped many a time. The fun ones are when I reach out and bang on the window when they get a little close and I've got nowhere to go, scares the sh*t out of them.

She was pretty pissed at me though haha. It came to a head when I was late getting home one day. I walked in the door and she came down the steps hollering at me that she was about to start calling hospitals. Didn't realize how upset she was at me actually buying the thing. I made the offer to sell it, she said no, so I still have it. I do make the effort to call or text if I'm going to be late though now!

Re: What's your other car?

I sold my R6 about 4 years ago this Summer. Too many clueless drivers and too much cold weather. The only crash I had was on a Yamaha Vsfar 1100cc when a dump truck hit a bump and dumped about a cubic meter of gravel onto the road which was a serious turn. The bike went down like it was trying to stay up on ball bearings. Thick leather jacket saved my shoulder and Kevlar boots kept my left foot attached. They dump truck driver didn't even stop.

I do live vicariously through others but miss it a lot.

I loved that bike but returned to sport bikes as I couldn't evade on such a sharp turn. I went to a 2004 Honda VFR 800 interceptor after that but missed that V Star a lot on longer rides. The VFR was perfect for splitting lanes in SoCal freeways. If I ever bought another bike I would seriously look at Triumph or other nice sports touring bikes.

Crashing on a bike is the worst. You are hurt but so pissed off at the same time.

That V Star gave you a lot of bike for the price though. Now we are just too far North to have anything under a liter. People just don't look for motorcycles and even with loud pipes, better brakes and maneuverability people get killed in crashes each Summer here.

Still there isn't much better of a feeling than being on a bike on the open road during Summer.

It does bug me that all their fluids besides oil are Honda branded but you can buy them by the case when you have 2 in the stable.
On the other hand, Honda makes some great fluids, lubes and chemicals. My brother in law uses a lot of them on bikes he owns as well as others he works on - none of them Hondas.

Haha, when I dumped mine, I remember waking up in the hospital going wtf? No clue where I was, the concussion trashed my short term. I remember patting myself down to make sure everything was attached since I was in a neck brace and asking the nurse what happened - she gave me a sheet with it all written down, since I'd asked that same question umpteen times the night before - apparently I never passed out after the accident and was conscious and more or less coherent through the transport and all the scans. I also remember one of the first things I asked my wife, while still high on whatever painkillers I was on "Give it to me straight - how's the horse?" No one had seen the bike, so I didn't get pictures till she stopped off to check it out when it was towed in to the dealer...front end came out with some scars...but I also bent the rear subframe sideways, so total loss haha

The day I brought the new one home I said, I'll just cruise around a bit to get used to it after I got it off the trailer. Pffft, that lasted less than 5 minutes and I was hauling a** down the road.

This is true. Racing does perfect some things. Funny but on all my motorcycles over the years I tended to use Yamalube even if it was a Yanaha or Suzuki. I think I just had better access to it. Hondas lubricants are very well thought out and when there are generic comparable, their prices are that much to warrant changing over unless you plan on draining and flushing the entire system.

MOPAR ATF3 and newer products are pretty good themselves. I think MOPAR came out better having been partnered with Daimler-Benz for that period of time. Their interiors really show a difference as do a few other systems. I hope the FIAT connection brings forth great engines that when pressed FIAT can design. They made some great ones for Volvo in the last decades. I think Enzo Ferrari's insistence on keeping the racing area has paid of quite well.

Very nice pint you made.
