Wheel lock question

Picked up a Limted EcoDiesel last month and it's been great so far. Recently I noticed the wheel lock bolt is different than the other nuts shown in the attached. Is this normal? Thanks

Re: Wheel lock question

That's different than the locks on my jeep. Mines a 14 overland, haven't seen those locks before . Probably normal though.

I don't know what to make of that. Nothing like anything I've ever seen. Can you take a closer picture?

Boy that sure is a different looking lock. I assume you've got the key and the paperwork too. The paperwork should should provide you with a way to order a replacement key if necessary, so who is the manufacturer of the lock set?

Re: Wheel lock question

The locked lugnut always looks different from the others. And you've definitely got a lock there in your picture. I've just never seen one like it before.....

Lightbulb Re: Wheel lock question

Had those on a previous GC; they were reportedly made by (for) McGard... one broke and had to be forcibly removed by the dealer. The ones pictured appear to be a bit more substantial.

Re: Wheel lock question

Yeah it's a good idea to find the key for that lugnut now.
You don't want to get stuck on the side of a highway at night with a flat trying to figure out a way to get it off.

Re: Wheel lock question

Boy, that's one ugly looking wheel lock. I'd rather have the standard lug nut in place of that thing.

Re: Wheel lock question

I wouldn't count on a tow truck showing up with the right wheel lock key. They might but I wouldn't count on it.

Neither of my GC's came with wheel locks at all...
