Re: When did a V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee become worth $50k?

You can still get off-road package on Laredo E and not get or pay the cost for the heated seats and heated steering wheel.

Re: When did a V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee become worth $50k?

Well ... I have no problem for the prices to go up as long my salary is keeping up with it. Unfortunately, seems like my take home due to higher insurance premiums, higher taxes is heading in opposition direction than all the prices.

A little perspective

I think the Jeep GC is a great value. In 2001 I purchased a new Dodge Durango SLT, cloth interior, 4x4, tow pkg a basic vehicle for about $31K. Now 12 years later I bought a 2013 GC Laredo w/cloth, tow pkg, and all weather group for the same money $31K.

The perspective is I get way more options, comfort, capability, and style for the same money. That makes the GC seem like a pretty good value especially when you consider the amount of time that has elapsed.

Re: When did a V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee become worth $50k?

Pricing seems fair to me considering its competition and the other vehicles people seem to be cross shopping...I looked at the X5, used Range Rover, 4 Runner, Toureg...others are also cross shopping Cayenne, Lexus RX, MDX, ML500...

I found nothing to be comparable in price with the features I wanted. I also wanted a SUV that can actually go off-road, a few of the above would have no chance keeping up. I'm also a BMW guy(have owned 3 in last 10 years) and was naturally inclined to go that direction but had to stop myself and look at other options. Everyone who has ridden in the GC has been overly impressed and I have a couple friends about to jump ship from their current SUVs in to a 13 or 14 GC. I may have fell in love with it in 2011 when I was helping a friend shop for cars and test drove one at that time...It sure is good looking too!

I'm also considering trading in for a 14 if I can find the right combination of features and price I want. Waiting till they hit dealer lots and I can sit in and drive one.

The only thing offered on the Overland that's not offered on the Limited is the wood steering wheel and leather door uppers/dash. I wouldn't call that a lot more technology.

Re: When did a V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee become worth $50k?

There are very few vehicles out there that compete with the GC and most are much more expensive. The higher trims (luxury with true 4x4 capabilities) compete with the VW Touareg, Mercedes ML, Lexus GX, and Land Rover. The 4runner to some extent is a competitor but it does not offer anywhere near the luxury features of the GC. Jeep does not have the prestige of some of those luxury nameplates, but the price is also significantly lower with equal specification.
50K is a fair price for the vehicle considering everything you are getting. If you feel that is too much you can get a stripped down one for significantly lower. Jeep has come a long way in the past few years and has created a world class vehicle. The days of firesales on this vehicle are over...but on the other end it will be much better for owners when they go to sell their used jeep.

And.. painted rocker trim and honeycomb grille and puddle lamps(what are those) and retractable mirrors and the only thing that actually matters-Indigo blue/Jeep brown interior.

Ok, it didn't even occur to me that you were talking '14. I was talking '11 - '13.

Oh sorry. What's funny is how close a loaded Laredo X can come to the Limited during those years. I added 20's to mine and I think the only difference is the heated steering wheel and rear seat along with HIDs. Kind of silly.

Overland gets real wood interior trim too.

Re: When did a V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee become worth $50k?

Looking at a fully loaded Summit and all the features that come with it, I don't think there is much to complain about the price. I'm not aware of any SUV that offers the same or more for the same $$ or less.

A fully loaded, small Audi Q5 has an MSRP above $60K (!!) and you don't get the same rebate which makes it even more expensive...

Actually to me the only thing that matter that I cannot get on Limited is interior Saddle or now Indigo Blue/Brown. With limited you can either get black (to dark for me) or white (hell to keep clean). I wish that "beige" was more cream beige than white.
