Re: When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

I've never been asked how much I paid for the jeep. If someone did ask, I would tell them about $8.00 per pound.

When I had the hummer, people would always ask. I would tell them it was about $12.00 per pound. Of course they would ask how much it weighed and I would tell them the truth (about 7500 pounds). I was usually out-of-there by the time they did the math.

Around here, everybody and their brother owns a jeep. Seems wherever I go I see jeeps. It was the opposite with the hummer. I hardly ever saw one on the road. I couldn't park it anywhere without coming out to find nose-prints on all the windows.

If it sounds like I miss the hummer, I still do. After having a 2-door pick up and a 4-door wagon for almost 15 years, I decided it was time to move on. Sometimes I wish I didn't, but that's another story.

Re: When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

Whenever I get asked this question, I respond with the general info they can get anywhere, and I keep it general," The price ranges for the Grand Cherokee are about 28K all the way up to about $65K or so. And if they ask what I paid again, then I tell them "somewhere in between there."

I'm more interested in telling them how much I saved by buying it in the US instead of Canada. I don't really care though, it's no secret.

I tell them it cost about 3 months' pay.

I think $8.00 / lb is a great answer and I'm going to steal it.

Re: When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

When someone asks the how much question, I alway reply...Why do you ask?
Puts it right back on them, and if they have a reason that makes sense, I give them a straight answer. If they are just being nosey I will change the subject.

^^^ Whenever I give them that question, all I get is "Just Curious on what you paid".

Re: When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

I tell them what I paid, the great trade in I got for my old gas-guzzler and what I'm saving every month on gas. I usually don't mention the 2% loan that I financed the remainder on.

Re: When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

I really don't have a problem with it I'm a pretty frugal guy so you wouldn't be able to tell what I make by my vehicle. Well except for a few of mine just say you know I'm probably not poor. Hint the name Stash GTO

Re: When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

I generalize and don't give an exact answer... Ex) High 30's, low 40's. It gives people an idea which is what they usually are curious about. But the 2011 price and the 2013/2014 price has changed by thousands so its irrelevant at this time what I paid compared to what they can get now.
