Why even go through all that headache. Just use a hot clip and tap into the Cig 12volt outlet in the cubby under the radio. Nice clean and easy install and it's powered with ignition...no firewall, no fuses, no headache!!

How did you access the outlet wire? Any trim removal involved? Pics?

Thanks

Usually they are T like taps like this for 18-22 ga wires (You MUST get the size matching wire gauge):

Amazon.com: 3M 3MT-R-100 22-18 Gauge T-Tap: Automotive

Larger gauges need a blue connector.

Both need covered make connectors like below, You will need a GOOD crimoing tool. Of course, you could also carefully strip 1/4" of insulation & solder a connection in. Far more secure, but not something one unfamiliar with soldering and the like should do. If you get a tool, buy several extra connectors & practice before doing it for real.

T connector:

Amazon.com: American Terminal E-FMR250N-100 22/18-Gauge Economy Nylon Fully-Insulated Male Quick Disconnects: Car Electronics

Tool:

Irwin Industrial Tools 2078309 8-Inch Multi Tool Stripper, Cutter and Crimper with ProTouch Grips - Amazon.com
