HI!!!
I will be receiving my 2012 Overland 4x4 in silver metallic with black interior and all the skid plates added by accessories in just about 10 days it is in customs (Dominican Republic).

I read somewhere that there was a person who painted in some way the edge of the seats (from white/grey) to black. Also the dashboard.
I really want to do this because I don’t like the black seating with the white/grey edging.

I read one person did it with a sharpie pen and another with shoe cleaner.
What are your thoughts on how can this be done?

^I'd be really careful using a Sharpie for anything larger than a touch up spot. You could end up making it look really crappy with that much surface area being covered if the black color or tone was off just a hair, plus chances are you'd have a really hard time with a clean application.

Put the gun down, back away, no one will get hurt.

Sounds like you'll end up with a mess in your brand new Jeep if you go with one of those options! IMO

I don't see a sharpie or shoe polish working at all. My guess would be a textile stain - but I don't know if that would even work. I'm sure the piping is vinyl and may not accept a stain. Actually, I am fairly sure it won't. In that case I think your only option is having an upholstery shop redo all the seams with black piping (or none). I think if you attempt a sharpie you're nuts.

i just read in another forum that 2 people did that.
and i would like to see how can this be done, of course i dont like any of the two ideas i mentioned but those are what i read.
i am completely aware that a sharpie or shoe polish must damage or wont do a good job, but i am just wondering if there is a way to do this that is simple and not expensive.
IF NOT I WILL DO ANYTHING...BELIEVE ME THIS IS MY FIRST NEW CAR AND I WANT IT NEW FOREVER.
i am just saying that i would like to have the stitching black instead of white/grey because o dont like the contrast.

DOES EVERYONE LIKES THE BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR WITH WHITE/GREY STICH?

I would get it and live with it a while and see how I liked it before I went "coloring in" the piping and the stitching. Its not just how it will look today, its how it will look over time, etc. That piping is a high wear area, and even if you could cover it up now...is it going to stay covered up?

Its a $45,000 vehicle...plus whatever you've paid to import it (a lot). If you're going to remove the grey piping...do it right.

Aaahhh, only the stitching.......you're first post was about the side of the SEATS aka the piping !!
The only stitching a few members have colored is the dash on an Overland with saddle interior. The saddle interior used to be with tan stitching on the black dash, and is now delivered with grayish stitching. The black interior has a uniform stitching in the whole interior.

With the stitching it has to stand up to the UV light it will be subjected to through the windshield.

My advice still stands, get it and live with it a little bit and see how much it bothers you. Whenever I've bought cars theres always been something that I didn't care for that I've sworn to myself "I'll have to change", wheels, trim. However, once I have it and I'm happy with it those things don't matter to me as much.
