Re: Who changes your oil?

Yea dealership is better then a jiffy lube IMO. Mobil Express if you have any local might be a little better but similar mentality. The dealership can't void your warranty for running a CAI. First, MOPAR makes there own CAI now. Secondly, the CAI has to be the reason the failure occurred in the engine.

So else you go driving through a pond and suck water into your engine through the CAI, then maybe its an issue for running the CAI. Until then, its not like they are going to notate your account that they saw a CAI.. hehe

Re: Who changes your oil?

The JGC is probably the easiest vehicle ever to change the oil---and I am not to mechanically inclined.

Re: Who changes your oil?

Dealership for me.

Looks like the OP has the Hemi, but does anybody know if any quick lube places even have the cartridge filter for the V6 yet?

Re: Who changes your oil?

I'm in luck! Called the dealer and i actually get free oil changes for the life of the vehicle! Can't believe it, i was never told this when i purchased. I guess why question is answered. Just hope they ignore the CAI, which from all the posts, sounds like they will. Thanks all.

Dealer gets the work. My free time is more valuable.

But the time it takes to drive it to the dealer, drop it off (or wait) and go pick it up is not equally as valuable?

My dealership's service department opens at 7Am. I typically don't even leave for work until 8:30. So I just say I want to bring it in some morning to have it done before I go to work. So only problem for me is getting up 30 minutes or so earlier than usual. They also tend to have evening hours 'til 7 or even 8PM, plus Saturday mornings. Sure, if you call for an appointment with these hour limitations, you're not going to hear "bring it in tomorrow", but we're talking an oil change, not a failing transmission, so what's the hurry.

It takes me literally 10-15 min to change the oil. I was just amused at the fact that he said his free time is more valuable than that, yet doesn't seem to account for the time invested to visit the dealership.

Re: Who changes your oil?

If it were a mercedes or bmw or lexus, you might even get the luxury of them picking the vehicle up at home or work to change the oil/do service. Thus he would spend no time at the dealership. Chrysler however, is a different story...
