Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

i got the v6 overland and compared to other v6's it does feel heavy and a bit slow. but can't really compare since the overland is way heavier then the others i've driven. when i went for a test drive i didn't bother getting in the v8 cause i'd probably want it. lol . so i just saved myself the trouble of denial and stuck with the v6. as for the drive i'm still in the break in phase and for myself trying to decide how i want the gc to program. so i'm going back and forth from heavy pedal to just cruising. either way its still a nice drive. i do find myself downshifting cause in auto it doesn't shift face enough when i'm on the highway and i wanna pass some idiot who cut me off. haha.

You did 1400 miles of slow logging roads and got 21 mpgs? Were they all going down the mountian side?

I think you need to re-read my post more carefully. It says it was 1400 miles of highway, back country roads and forest logging roads.

I'd say it was about 800 miles of highway, 350 miles of country roads (paved, no traffic, no lights, 55 mph), 150 miles of dirt roads and 100 miles of logging roads (rough muddy 2 track).

So what did you get when you were just on the highway?

I also cruised northern michigan last week (500miles round trip) and avg'd 25.7mpg and I didn't have to deal with the lovely 545RFE tranny shudder.

I honestly think if I cruised an easy 55mph with the 3.6, I could probably hit 27mpg.

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

This one time...
At a stop light...
I lined up with an SRT8...
But next to the SRT8 was a Hemi...
Needless to say I blew them off the line....

Who cares that the light was Red.

But really, we all made out choices for certain reasons and have read that most of us are happy with our decisions.

I regularly hit 27mpg on I-90 at 65mph with 2 passengers and 8 suitcases of which 1 suitcase is mine!

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

Add 5 mph and the a/c and I averaged over 24 mpg for one long GA-FLA interstate leg. Overall average (calculated, not EVIC) for 1700 miles (2/3 Interstate, 1/3 local & town) was 23.3 mpg of 87 PON + 10% eth. People seem to miss the additional costs (both refining and at the pump) required for 89 vs 87 PON.

Must admit am a little insensitive to fuel cost (about 15c/mi) vs other vacation costs so traded fuel for time to a certain extent. Have no doubt that 27 mpg would be possible if driving purely for economy. Wasn't.

Haha, sounds like me and my female friend.

But dam, you get 27mpg, I am jealous. Cali's gas must suck.
