What do you think of the quality of the upgraded leather itself Bill? From a standpoint of feel and softness can you tell a difference?

If you run your hand over the leather it does have a different, maybe softer, feel. It is not something you feel sitting in the seat. The seats are still Jeep hard. I was never sure if the perforated parts are actually leather.

In day to day use it is an appearance option as opposed to a comfort option.

It was a bit disappointing that quality control is no better. One seam is stitched wrong causing wrinkles. I will probably let that go rather than have the dealer touch the interior any more than necessary.

Does the MY17 Summit have automatic parallel parking? If so, how goes it?

Yes, parallel and perpendicular. I haven't tried it on the Jeep, but had it for a couple of years on a Ford. The best part is that it will sometimes pick a spot that you might think is too short.

In practice it is slow. The wheel turns itself while you are prompted to give gas, apply brake, or shift gears. Might be great in areas where parking is tough. Most folks on the Ford forum said they only used it to show friends how it worked, then turned it off.

I think it was an option only as a research tool on the path to self driving cars.

Thanks Bill. I'm not a very good parallel parker between 2 cars. It was not part of the drivers license test in 1966. I avoid it if alone. If my wife is with me, I will get out and put her in the drivers seat or on the sidewalk directing me. So I am anxious to read more impressions of the feature.
