Just heard the group buy is off because a member here notified DiabloSport. What's up?????? Thougt we were together here?

Maybe some member from the forum works for DiabloSports and saw the group buy thread and then told his boss about what was going on. There are a ton of different possibilities

It's hard to offer a lower price, openly, on the internet on a price fixed item. Too many people have eyes on the deal.

A woodworking store wanted to do something for members of a forum. He couldn't publish a lower price. He just said that those of us who knew him should trust him. A bunch of us ordered, and got invoices for the list price. But, in the payment section it showed a partial payment via gift card, with the balance put on our credit cards. The gift card was the discount. We all agreed not to post our savings, and only those who trusted him enough to order knew what their price was. It kept the trouble makers at bay.

I would think Diablo marketing has a google search bot going that will let them know whenever they or tuners are being talked about on the web.

if there is any kind of pricing agreement, its probably a competitor to the shop thats offering a discount thats doing the complaining.

Doesn't have to be one of us $&@ holes.

That's exactly what it was and it was a mole who tipped them off.

It's ok tho' the group buy was only done because Scott asked me to help out members before they are released and sell out figuring all our members would not be left out when they sell out.

It's all good and to the vendor you know who you are good luck getting your product from me or your cash back. And to the banned member glad your gone you just screwed a bunch of people.

Price fixing is rampant. I'm not sure why it's tolerated as it's my understanding it's illegal in the first place.

As a private pilot I was looking for an expensive Garmin GPS for flying. I thought it was odd that every single place had it for the exact same price. I finally asked one vendor if they could do better. He told me, no he couldn't. But then said he had a "demo" model he could sell me cheaper. He basically sold it to me for about 50% off. When I received it, it was brand new. I called to thank him and I asked him about it. He finally broke down and admitted it was brand new. He said that Garmin would stop selling to him immediately if sold a single unit under the price Garmin tells him he can sell it at.

I do agree that DiabloSport monitors many forums and the mole may not be a member. Question #1: Why would a vendor offer a group buy knowing pricing was fixed? Question #2: ( to the mole) The price difference was negligable so what was the problem? Move some product, make some money, get the word out. Group buys help everyone. It's not like they happen often and after they expire, enjoy your fixed price.

I don't know if i would call basically 20% off a negligible discount. Thats a pretty solid deal.

Diablo sells them on their site so they would have lost out on the increased margins in their own pocket if someone offloaded a large number of them at a significantly discounted price.

Just think, the group buy price was 490 including shipping... what kind of ridiculous margin is diablo making on these things selling them for $600 assuming the blacksopsautworks was still making a profit @490...

I need to get into the tuner market

Long story short, The rat is an ass.

Based on this comment, not only was it a vendor on this forum, it was a member too (well, a banned member)

Good riddance to you both
