I've never had a vehicle delivered with properly inflated tires LOL, ordered or not. Either new, or back from service. ALWAYS over-inflated...and different across tires, etc.

PSI on the door sticker does vary by wheel size. At least it does on other cars I've owned with different wheel options (like my Lexus)

In general, the larger diameter tires tend to have greater load carrying capacity, but the WK2 weights don't vary too much... except when you get into the V8 or diesel. So hypothetically a 20" set might not need quite as much pressure as a smaller set.
I have the 20" wheels and tires and the door sticker says 36psi (front and rear). Anyone have the 18" wheels?

The 18s call for 33 front and rear, at least in 2011.

33 psi for 18s,
36 psi for 20s.
The exact opposite of what I expected!

Re: Why are so many vehicles ...

The lower profile the tire, the higher the pressure its recommended you run. Always been that way.

My Lexus has the 18s, its 33 all around. If you have the 19s, its 36 all around.

Re: Why are so many vehicles ...

If their sticker says 36, then that sticker is for a Jeep that came with the 20s.

It would not surprise me at all if JNAP put the wrong sticker on it lol

My 2014 Limited V6 4x4 says 36 psi for 18s. My build date was July 2013.

The sticker in the door jamb specifies the 18 inch tires. So, either they have been printing the complete sticker information incorrectly or they intentionally specified higher PSI values for different options or updated their specs...

Note: Other people with Limiteds around the same build date as mine also have 36 PSI listed on their stickers too. Michelin Latitude Tire Pressure

Re: Why are so many vehicles ...

Durango sticker says 36 psi for 18's. I run 39 to keep the tpms light off through the -30's we get in the winter.

Re: Why are so many vehicles ...

It's also more than just the sticker stating 36psi for my friends 14 3.6L, the TPMS lit up when one wheel dipped to 34.

Because vehicles sitting for long periods of time on car carriers and in dealer lots are less likely to have temporary ride issues and belt deformity/distortion from the tires being in the same position if inflated to the max. The more air, the more the tires can maintain their round shape until the vehicle is driven regularly.

I learned this a while back from a dealer when I bought a Kia Soul that I immediately brought back with Max inflated tires and a rough ride.
