Why did Jeep go back to single exhaust?

You'd think on a 46K MRSP 75 Anniversary Limited there would be a dual exhaust at least.

Whats the deal?

All the previous years, cheaper base limited had dual exhaust on the v6.

V6 = rental / stripper model, regardless of "Anniversary" tarting up.

It's Jeep's shorthand and they're sticking with it.

Re: Why did Jeep go back to single exhaust?

Well it doesn't benefit from dual exhaust so might as well save the extra weight.

I wasn't to pleased when I took home my 15' Limited . I had looked at some many models and Jeeps over the course of buying, that I actually hadn't even noticed it until I got all the way home in the driveway.

I'm a symmetry guy and liked the look of the duel exhaust.

That's a great uneducated guess.

You do realize that the Summit model which is the highest model Grand Cherokee (along with SRT) was mostly built using that "stripper" V6 engine right?

Add to that the fact that most "dual" exhausts are just a Y near the rear of the vehicle, and this is the most likely explanation.

Re: Why did Jeep go back to single exhaust?

I thought I remembered reading somewhere (here?) that about 90% of the GCs sold have the V6 -- but then again I probably just made that up.

Re: Why did Jeep go back to single exhaust?

At least owners that have the single exhaust don't have to worry about two exhaust tips being aligned the same.

It also saves Chrysler a few $$'s on each vehicle. It called "decontenting". My '98 Corvette had an underhood light, but my '11 Z06 which listed for almost twice as much doesn't.
