Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I owned a 2008 WK Laredo X from new. It had the 3.7l and was very good to me through the years. It was only brought in for service two times ... First time was for an ignition module at roughly 6k miles... after that at around 65k the water pump went on me. Naturally it went out right before I traded it in for a 2014 GC Altitude. My 2014 GC turned out to be a lemon and am in the process of being put into a 2015 Altitude.

Personally I don't like any other SUV on the road so Jeep is where I will stay, for now.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

My 11 Limited Hemi is my 5th GC and 6th Jeep over all. I wanted this body style from the moment the TV ads started running for it. I had 2 WK's and 2 ZJ's. The WK always seems to be a smaller vehicle than my ZJ's. I paintball and mountain bike so I need room to haul gear. I also have a big dog and like to take him with me so the cargo space is a must. Nebraska winter makes it so I want AWD and it is a Hemi. This is the vehicle equipped exactly the way I wanted. No other, mid sized SUV, looks like an SUV anymore. They all seem to be cross overs ie station wagons.

This is my first Jeep since owning a Wrangle Rio Grande back in '94 or so. My wife loved the looks, it's capable of towing our camper and it takes up less garage space than a newish Tahoe.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I chose the JGC because it is the only vehicle sold in the USA that meets all of my requirements:

1. Diesel
2. Good off-road capability (low range x-fer case etc)
3. Able to fit a winch on
4. Great interior/features (I have the Summit)

Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I was looking for an SUV to replace my Camaro once we had our son. I knew I wanted an automatic (wife doesn't drive stick and couldn't drive my last 2 cars), 4WD, and plenty of room. Always liked the look of the GC. Cross shopped the new Murano, Pathfinder, Santa Fe and Mazda CX-5. Liked the CX-5 but too small for my needs. Pathfinder felt like I was driving a bus. Santa Fe and Murano were both very nice, but I liked the styling and driving experience in the GC the best. Every time I see my GC, I think "that's a damn good looking truck!" Don't think I'd have the same reaction with the others. Also felt like it was the least "soccer mom" of the bunch (with the Murano a close second).

Also looked at the new Cherokee (the styling has really grown on me). Liked it, but the hatch space was super small.

Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Owned a late 90's Cherokee, then bought a new 2004 Liberty. Life happened and ended up with a 2010 CRV. 3.5 years later I had to go back to Jeep. At the time (April 2014) the Liberty is going out the door, the Cherokee is not my thing, and I thought the JGC would be priced out of where I wanted. Then I saw the Altitude JGC, test drove it, then went back the next day and got my Jeep.

Best vehicle I've owned. Looks, interior, equipment, perfect for me.

Well, for me it was easy.. I had both a grand Cherokee limited then a 4th generation 4 runner and since the new model 4 runner looked like a brick minivan, I started my research..

Everything pointed to the WK2 and pow... WK2 on the balance sheet.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Had a 1993 Wrangler and loved every minute of it. When searching for an SUV nothing could compete with Jeep. Wanted a V8 and something that could tow a boat. The styling looks great and it can be used for almost anything I throw at it. Ended up in a 2014 Overland with the HEMI.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

For my wife's 2013 Laredo X, it was the combination of several things but most important to her was the ride. It's far better than the 2003 Honda Pilot, the 2003 4Runner sport, and her minivan. We liked it so much, that when it was time for me to replace my car, I bought a 2015 JGC Limited. My first new car in 35 years

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Well I'm a single guy who was looking for an SUV that wasn't a "soccer mom" vehicle. I wanted something fairly sporty, agile, and fast. It also couldn't be a "soft-roader".

There aren't many SUVs with those requirements. The Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne, and Jeep Grand Cherokee were about the only ones I found.

IMHO the WK2 was the best combination of features, performance, & cost.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Couple of things. We had a Tahoe but didn't need an SUV that size with the kids leaving the house. This is also our second JGC. With the light to Moderate camping off-roading we need something with 4low.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Starting to think the answer is "stupidity."

But seriously, I had 2 Jeeps before this one and it is what I felt was a good value for the features. Has a great V8 engine, air suspension, offroad competence, luxury features, pano moonroof, etc. I also liked the idea of the lifetime warranty, so even if the engine exploded at 105k miles I wouldn't be left without a vehicle. I put on a huge amount of miles per year, so most extended warranties would last me only a few years anyway. Size is also reasonable - not a huge full sized SUV, not a tiny "cute ute," though in future I'll probably go smaller. We're a couple with no kids, so no real reason for something huge.

tl;dr - because the car is akin to the hot blonde girl who seemed low maintenance and down to earth but really is a drama queen that vomits in your bed after getting drunk with your best friend. Seemed good when you got it, now you're just waiting for the best time to get rid of it.
