Couldn't have said it better myself!

I bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee because it is the best looking SUV on the market, and it had the most luxury options for the money. Nothing from the U.S.A. currently even comes close.

Too bad the WK2 it's made with a lot of cheap Chinese parts, quality control is lacking at the assembly plant, and the dealer net work/service departments is something out of the 70's. Chrysler just doesn't know how to treat the higher end customers...something even Toyota or Honda does better.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I had two previous WK's before going back to a full size pickup. Seems like a cycle for me, FS Truck, Jeep, FS Truck, Jeep, FS Truck and now I am once again trading my truck for a new WK2.

Don get me wrong, my Silverado has been a great vehicle, but its just too darn big to maneuver downtown and daily driving...

So why a Jeep WK2?
Can tow over 6000 pounds.
Off Road capability
Size
Style
Comfort

Honestly the towing requirements kicks out a large number of vehicles alone in a vehicle this size.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Greetings,

I had a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder which I was leasing. The Pathfinder was not good in the winter, handling was so-so and the mpg was not to hot. The 2nd generation Xterra that had previously leased was far superior.

After the snow storm of Xmas 2010, I had it with the Pathfinder. I started my research and it was between the Ford Explorer and the WK2. After all the research, including watching almost every YouTube video it showed that the WK2 was better or even with Explorer. Ground clearance was much better.

So, after 60,670 miles on my 2011 JGC, I have no regrets of paying extra in getting out of the Pathfinder lease.

Best for now.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

My '12 has been the best tow car I've ever had. Lady friend put me on to the WK2 when I gave away my minivan and have never regretted it.

Took a strong hit from a 150 Ford (rearended whle stopped in traffic). Ford folded around the factory hitch and was totaled. They replaced my tailgate & reset the active headrests. That was in Dec '12.

Periodically I get recall notices for things I doubt are a problem (but not going to turn down a new alternator). Also suspect I am about to go through TSB 09-004-14 but have no desire to change for something else.

After all is my only car with a DOHC 6, IRS at both ends, front and rear sway bars, and 4 wheel disk brakes. Only reason I'd consider a new one would be for a gas Pentastar with direct injection and boost.

ps have had a lot of tow cars but never a pickup.

Thumbs up Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I think that after reading this whole thing I would have to agree.

form, fit, function.

I test drove MDX, highlander, pilot, xterra, yukon, escalade, durango and skipped on the explorer due to so many problems(quality and customer complaints). After all that, JGC offered the best of the group. the amenities, the ride quality, and the capabilties (off road and towing). I have had and driven trucks as well. I have had my JGC for about two months now and finally went on a business trip. Drove like a dream. Just got my OHV sticker (legal off roading in Texas) so I can have some fun off road. I used to camp regularly so that also weighed heavily on my decision, because I wanted something that would get me almost anywhere. I am in the car part business and sell parts for "high end" vehicles like range rover, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes so cost of ownership and maintenance also played a part in my choice. The Jeep(FCA) extended warranty coverage was top notch. I keep most of my cars 10 years or more.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Well,

I went to the WK2 because there was not anything that was comparable that I could justify. From a capability standpoint, there are few other vehicles that compare -- I did a 100k review for those of you who are interested in the further details about 'why' I chose to buy and keep my WK.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I think they're the best looking SUV on the road. Loved my '14 Overland and loving my '15 High Altitude even more!!

They're loaded with features, have great lines, and excellent capability. Can't go wrong.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Was looking to downsize from an Infiniti QX56 but still needed at least 6k towing capacity and wanted a V8. Only other options really were a Durango or Lexus GX460. I do not like the Durango, and the Lexus feels antiquated, is gutless, and rides poorly. If I did not have a tendency of keeping cars less than 3 years, I probably would have stayed with the QX due to concerns with longer term reliability with the Jeep.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Because I had a JK, lifted, 33", and It was fun for about 3 years, then I got sick and tired of the hard non confortable ride. I couldnt drink a damn coffee in that thing. Then I bought an Overland 2011.. and I had lots of issues with the Quadra lift.. they took it back. I have bought the best looking SUV imho.
I have now a 2012 Laredo X that I built to this :

I dont think I can love more than this :P
