Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I bought the Grand Cherokee because they quit making the commander. Now that I've had it for two years there's no way I could go back to the commander. I had the 4.7 liter in the commander and have the 5.7 in my Grand Cherokee. The difference in power is quite substantial. I love having a v8 and wouldn't drive anything else. Gas mileage has never been a concern to me when buying a car. I want power

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Hi all, new to the forum, first post here. My wife and I just purchased a 2014 Overland with the 5.7 on Saturday. We bought this to replace this a 2001 Durango SLT, which was pretty loaded for its time, but has been slowly deteriorating.
The Jeep ended up being the front runner for us over the BMW X5, Audi Q5 and Ford Explorer Sport.
I felt like it offered the most for the money.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Bought my '14 limited v6 after test driving it. Was originally set on a '11 hemi but they had just sold it. Glad I got the '14, this thing is loaded and comfortable. Coming from my modded '09 mazdaspeed3, this thing is way more easier to drive

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Bang for buck! Off-road capable, handles well on-road, the power and torque from the diesel and the 8sp trans can't be matched at this price point.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I have no brand affinity and will buy what looks the best at the time. I have had all types of cars and motorcycles. As for as my 2015 Summit, it came down to a few things

1) Proper north-south drivetrain - this thing isn't based on a car platform like the explorer and others. this helps with offroad capability and towing.
2) But, because it's unibody, it still gets good gas mileage, unlike 4runners and those types of SUVs
3) Has proper low range transfer case. In my mind (debatable) it can perform 80% as good as a wrangler offroad, but with vastly greater comfort
4) Interior quality and functionality is right up there with the greatest Audi's etc, in my opinion
5) Made in America - I am doing my part to help keep jobs here.

I think it's really the perfect all around SUV.

Because I'm a sucker for punishment!

I didn't learn from the experience with my '08.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I chose my '14 V6 Limited JGC because (in no particular order) I was replacing an '08 Mercedes (gave to 16 year old) and a 10 year old Ram Truck (traded in). Needed one vehicle that could tow my boat, have 4WD, carry clients in moderate luxury and comfort, have decent fuel economy on gasoline, cheap and easy maintenance, take a lot of miles (25,000+ a year), not so nice that I couldn't put nursery stock/power equipment inside or ladders on the roof rack, and most importantly get the 6000 lb SUV tax writeoff for my small business. I didn't care for the BMW X5 and MB ML at the quoted prices, and the MB GL, LandCruiser and Infiniti Q80 were too big/gas guzzling/expensive (though a much better value IMO than the smaller X5/ML). 4Runner too tippy/small inside/trucklike. Several other ones I really liked did not meet the 6000 lb GVWR and/or could not tow my boat including RX350 and the Infiniti/Pathfinder twins. Overall it met or exceeded all my needs. Really an incredibly competent vehicle....and 0% for 36 months and 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. What's not to like?

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

1st reason: For the DIEZEL motor!

I was looking for this technology. Choises are very limited. Jeep Grand Cherookee won my quest

2nd reason: For its towing capabilities

3rd reason: For its off road capabilities and selectable drivetrain modes

1 500 km later, I am still in love with my wk2

We owned 2 prior to this one. A 95 ZJ and a 99 WJ. Never any problems with either
