Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

hello everyone, new guy here

I got a 15 GC. Got it basically because I needed a bigger car/SUV and I thought it was the only best looking one in a price range I can get. I would have prefer a car but I move around so much and the space wasn't there in a car. The frustration kicked trying to fit things in different angles into the car that I needed something bigger so I got the GC.

Never bought a Jeep before so hopefully I have no issue as I would like to keep this one for the long term

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I had a 2008 Toyota 4Runner that was totaled. Test drove a 2014 4Runner. The ride was rough and I didn't like the look. Never owned a Jeep before but I liked the look so I decided to go and test drive one. After the test drive, I knew this was the vehicle for me. Purchased a 2014 JGC Overland and a max care lifetime warranty for peace of mind.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

This is my second WK2. The first was a late model 2011 Overland with the HEMI and QDII. Aside from some rattles, it was a solid vehicle. I paid $39k for it new and sold it for $33k 2-years later. I bought a 2015 Summit w/ Hemi in August. Why, good first experience and I can drive a luxurious vehicle while staying under the "radar". I used it for business and will often have clients with me. While I prefer a premium brand, few if anybody questions the cost of a JGC. In my area JGC's are everywhere. Most wouldn't know the difference between the (common) Limited or Summit.

To summarized, blend into the background for business purposes, value and utility.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

Because it the nicest American made vehicle, hands down. I've had several others and can say that the interior is the best. And I like the midsize that it is.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

For me it was a combination of price, value, and overall features and looks. We seriously looked at the diesel, but went with the 5.7 HEMI. I've always been a fan of high torque, pushrod, overhead valve V-8's. And the HEMI is one of the best, and most proven in a large amount of different vehicles over the last decade plus.

If the diesel version was powered with the Cummins Turbo Diesel, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. That power plant has a stellar reputation for dependability, reliability, and longevity over many years. But I had doubts about the Fiat "Eco Diesel". If you check Fiat's reliability in the marketplace, it is rated poor at best, downright bad in fact. When you combine that with the inability to get the unlimited time and mileage Max Care Lifetime Warranty with the Fiat diesel option, it was quickly eliminated. Diesels are extremely expensive to repair out of warranty, and I intend to keep this vehicle for a very long time.

We purchased ours off the lot because HEMI Limited models were very scarce in our area. (Ours was the only one we could find in any and all of the dealers in the Phoenix Metro area). All the other HEMI equipped Grand Cherokee's were either Summit or Overland models. It had more options on it than I would have ordered, but the price we were able to negotiate was good, so we went with it. Overall, thus far it's been a good choice. As always YMMV.

Exactly! That's why I had to order my Limited to get the V8, QD2, QL, and NO Sunroof.

Had I ordered, the two items I would have left off would have been the Sunroof, and the U-Connect 8.4. They're nice enough, just not worth what they're getting. Having the heavy duty towing package, leather interior, along with all the rest made us go for the one we did.

Re: Why did you choose Grand Cherokee

I got the JGC because i wanted the air suspension to get over the large bump in my shared drive way ( neighbor is an asshole and deliberately built up the peak of the hump to deter outside traffic from driving through our shared driveway, at the same time screwing over us neighbors. i have to set it to or1 to get over it without scraping.) My e75 x5 was scraping at stock height, so when i got t-boned, i wanted air suspension on the new car.

rangerover and porsche and MB w/air suspension was just a tad too much $$ for me.

A woman in my subdivision came door to door, trying the same thing with wanting to install "speed bumps" all over the place. She and another local broad were taking a petition door to door, trying to get enough signatures to present to the home owners association. (Another bunch of assholes), but that's besides the point.

I listened to her whole speech, then I told her I wouldn't sign it. When she asked why, I told them it was the reason they have speed limits, along with cops who we pay a salary to enforce them. Why should I be inconvenienced, and wear out my brakes and shock absorbers, because a few idiots drive too fast, and continually get away with it?

She went on about how, "It's for the children", and all that crap. I told her when I was a kid my parents told me not to play in the street, and to look both ways before I crossed it. I said it's now well over 55+ years later and I'm still here, so it must have worked. She left in a huff. My neighbor told me the other day they didn't have enough people, "wanting to participate". And the homeowners association dumped the whole idea because of cost. So now I only have to drive over the curb when I go in and out of my driveway. That's enough of a pain in the ass.
