Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

There were none on the lots when I ordered mine - in fact, mine was one of the first '14s to arrive at the very large dealership in Houston where I ordered it. I too didn't want a sunroof; live in a state that doesn't require front plates; and I just like ordering my new vehicles when possible to get the exact combination of options that I want. From order date to delivery of mine took 24 days.

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

Ordering a Overland blk/blk with tech pkg, V6, 4WD and rear entertainment. I can't find one within 1000 miles on a lot. After reading on this forum I am very glad I am ordering a later build date based on the bugs in the earlier ones. Previous owner of Infiniti G37S and Honda Pilot. Now have an Audi S5 and a new Jeep on the way! I sure hope the quality and reliability are there for Detroit's sake.

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

Factory ordered for a few reasons.

1) I'm OCD and didn't want the dealer to "prep" the vehicle took delivery with plastics still on it
2) didn't want the sunroof and 99% of the ones on the lots had them
3) wanted to have my name on the window sticker (stupid reason but kind of cool)
4) wasn't in a hurry and knew that that way no one would of been test driving it and hooning on it while it was cold.

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

Ordered mine because I want my $45K vehicle to be EXACTLY in the colors and with or without the options I want or don't want. No sunroof and V8/Quadradrive in the Limited trim was impossible to find. I've always had to order my vehicles - so much fun tracking them and in the case of the Z06, taking delivery at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

I ordered mine from the factory because, like Dan JGC, there were no 4X4s in south Texas either, in the color I wanted with the equipment I wanted. One dealer found one that was close to what I wanted (plus an unwanted chrome step rail package which I sure don't need and some other chrome doo-dahs) many hundreds of miles away and wanted an extra grand to have it brought here. Not the deal for me.

I went to a different dealer who was more than happy to order the exact JGC I wanted for a price under what TrueCar listed as a very good deal and in less than 6 weeks I had my car. I tracked it through production and delivery. I know what day it was painted, when it was assembled, when it passed inspection and sent to be delivered. No one test drove it, it didn't sit on the lot and like someone else said it had my name on the factory window sticker. As a bonus, it has been absolutely trouble-free, but that's probably a coincidence.

Anyhow, I am happy knowing I got everything I wanted and didn't get stuck with things I didn't want. The wait is worth it. Hang in there and enjoy your new Jeep!

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

Had dealer locate a late (enough) build and ship it in and then I rejected it! Oops! Had to, HUGE paint run on hood and I keep my rigs til dead and no way was I going to let them bust into factory paint and clear coat on the hood that will get punished on Cleveland roads. Decided to let them sell it to someone who didn't care and I ordered it thru the Houston Group Buy. Planned on making the pickup a mini vacation with my 18 yr old son who is going to UT-Austin this fall but my 3rd leg surgery intervened so I paid $600 to have it trucked up on auto-carrier semi.

Happy!

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

Life happened so my plans got delayed, but I was considering a factory order. I wanted a multipurpose vehicle for some rough roads that's also a comfortable daily driver for my long highway commute. I think the local dealers mostly order them optioned as luxury family trucksters for soccer practice and shopping trips. They always add a sunroof I don't want, often add the 20-inch wheels I'd rather not have, never add the ORA2 or Quadra-Drive I do want, etc.

Wait, do you mean you've had leg surgery three times or that you had surgery on your third leg?

Uh, no THAT 3rd leg got clipped a while back.

Actually, I got confused. The reason for the cancelled vacation pickup trip was the wrist surgery that fell between my 2nd and 3rd surgeries on my left leg. Here's the pic of the hardware they put in during my 2nd reconstruction surgery but before they took out all the hardware you see in the big bone on left (tibia) due to osteomyelitis (bone infection).

Ya, I really did a number on myself this go around riding motocross. I cased a small triple jump.

At least it was my non-driving leg so I still get to mash that hemi gas pedal.

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

^^^^^^^

That looks like it musta hurt!!! Just be glad there was no CV boot clamp in there...we know what a problem those can be!

Speaking of window stickers (and the thread about if you got a full tank of gas on delivery). The South Florida dealership that I ordered my 2011 from didn't fill up the tank, spelled Donald on the window sticker instead of Daniel, and thought they were doing me a favor by allowing me to order a vehicle through treadlightly (1% under invoice). Meanwhile, for my 2014 order the DC buyers group dealership got my named right, full tank of gas, and no hassle net 6% under invoice and were appreciative of my business. Hands down I would order from them again without blinking.

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

There are several reasons why I order my vehicles in addition to getting exactly what I want. When I order, i turn over my trade in so that there is no loss in value in the event that my order comes in after a new book value comes out. There are additional discounts on factory orders that people don't take advantage of like ad allowances. I get a better deal if the dealer doesn't have to pay flooring. Finally, there is a loyality factor when you order from the same dealer for 20 years that can't be measured in dollars.

Re: Why did you factory order your JGC?

I ordered my 2012 Overland because I couldn't locate one with the Specific features I wanted, and I refuse to compromise on a vehicle costing almost $50,000!
