also checkyour tire inflation. they over inflate at about 41psi from the factory. i believe that the optimum is around 36 psi.

Thanks - That was the first thing I checked when I bought the car - all at 36 psi now

What? The rating on the car for 36PSI is when the car is cold.

It's probably worth having the dealer check the alignment. A little off can change the steering feel.

I dropped to 33 psi, but that's because I switched out the Latitudes for LTX A/T2s and that's what the tire store recommended I run them at.

My door sticker says 33 Cold Front & Rear, 39 for the spare. I have 18" wheels, maybe they use a different pressure.

I guess I was used to tight SUV steering since we've owned 5 Liberty's in the last 9 years. That first 2002 Liberty was quite a change from the loose steering in my '94 GMC Jimmy.

Re: Why don't I like how my new GC Overland drives?

For the 20" wheels, 33psi seems to be the sweet spot for ride and handling. It's true that they are filled to ~40psi from the factory but as to why it is uncertain. At 36psi and up the ride is noticeably more jarring and the tracking is more scattered on crowned roadways. Running at 33psi alleviates all of that; not bad at all for wide 50-series tires. I love the ride, performance and fuel economy and maintain 33psi (cold) with no ill effect.

This is good to know. Agreed, must be a difference between the 18 and 20 inch wheel/tire combo

They're overfilled from the factory to prevent flat spots in the tires.

You're right:

18" 33 psi
20" 36 psi
