Why is it called WK2?

Why are the new Grand Cherokee's called WK2 and not WL? All previous models got a new letter designation why not this one?

Re: Why is it called WK2?

from what we have been told by the engineers...it "was" gonna be the WL until Cerebus took over at ChryCo. They wanted it to stay as the WK followed by a series of numbers. That will change with the next model from what im told.

Another reason I hate when capital management firms try running companies in business markets that they know nothing about.

Hey, if that's the worst thing they did ("WK2") then Chrysler got off easy

Re: Why is it called WK2?

The old joke was what do they call DaimlerChrysler in Germany? Answer: Daimler.

The joke is that it wasn't a merger of the two, it was a takeover of Chrysler by Daimler.

Re: Why is it called WK2?

WK2 should have been called "Gull", short for Seagull. Coz for the price, it shits all over everything

Re: Why is it called WK2?

I'm not sure about all designations, but I'm know the first wrangler was called the CJ that stood for Civilian Jeep.
It would be interesting to know if the rest do in deed stand for something, or nothing at all
