Re: Why no Hemi Badging on 2011 5.7L JCs?

The was a looooong thread on this a few months back. Some claim the Jeep is trying to create an upscale image to go along with the new design and the Hemi part is not part of that image.

I personally believe the real reason is to give into the greenies and to jump on the tree hugging band wagon. I have not seen any commercial that emphasize the towing ability, power, or anything along those lines. Almost all focus on fuel efficiency which I believe is the wrong way to go. People buy lawn mower with seats bubble cars (prius) for fuel efficiency not jeeps. I buy jeeps for comfort and to fulfill my mission, whether driving cross country or towing big heavy things and going through mud and snow.

Re: Why no Hemi Badging on 2011 5.7L JCs?

Badges? Badges? We don't need no stinkin Badges.

If you're in the rig, you'll know what's under the hood.

If you're not, best way to tell it's a Hemi is when you're left behind suckin' on the dual exhausts.

The badge referenced in post #2 is the exact match to the one on my 2009 Limited Hemi. The adhesive tape comes on it. Just peel and stick! You can easily put this badge on your 2011.

Re: Why no Hemi Badging on 2011 5.7L JCs?

The Hemi badge was supposed to be on the WK2s. But that was a last minute change. The pre-production models do have Hemi badges and we still have some laying around in the factory.

V6 gets single exhaust. If it got dual, that would probably make the exhaust hanger guy quit because he goes through enough trouble with just the 5.7Ls that come down.

Just curious what makes it such a pain in the ass. just the dual requiring twice as much work or something else?

Re: Why no Hemi Badging on 2011 5.7L JCs?

Does anyone have experience with removing the adhesive left behind from a removed badge? I'd like to put one of those Hemi badges on but want the option of removing it easily later if I change my mind...

most bug and tar removers that are paint safe will take the leftover adhesive right off

Use a heat gun (Or the wifes hairdryer) Heat the adhesive, spray a little bit of WD40 and rub it with your fingers.

Re: Why no Hemi Badging on 2011 5.7L JCs?

I would imagine that the ads using the rednecks to push the Hemi don't factor as well for the crowd buying a Grand Cherokee. The engine cover doesn't state Hemi as far as I recall, just the displacement.
