Re: why no summits

I see two other Summit's beside my own running around the Iowa City / Cedar Rapids area. We ordered ours from a dealer in the Chicago area due to our local dealer not having knowledgeable sales staff on hand to answer questions about that trim level or the Ecodiesel engine. I actually educated them about the Summit when I had it in for service. They all gathered around it in the service bay to look at it.

Re: why no summits

I several Summits (in addition to my own) every day on the road around here...and a lot of Laredo, Limited and Overland, too.

Re: why no summits

There is 1 auburn Summit that I see near me but that's pretty much it. Saw a granite 1 once but never saw it again. Mostly Limiteds around here with a few Laredos and Overlands.

The local dealer keeps 12 to 15 GC's in stock, a pretty even mix of Laredos, Limiteds and Overlands. They will usually only have 1 4x4 with the rest all RWD here in the South. Never seen a Summit on their lot.

That cracks me up that people can be employed by a company that does nothing but sell a specific model of vehicles, but yet can be so clueless on things when it comes to them. Maybe my work ethic is different or because my line of work I have to perform to a certain standard or there will be problems, but if I worked at a dealership, I would be sure to know everything about the vehicles I deal with day in and day out. Just weird thats all, but then again I guess thats why car salesman and dealerships have the reputation they do.

The Summit really is outfitted to be a luxury SUV which means that it has to compete with BMW, Lexus, Range Rover, etc. Plus, Jeep is at a disadvantage in the luxury market in North America as it's not seen as a Luxury brand. Traditionally Jeep's image is as a workhorse and off-road go everywhere vehicle.
I agree. See Summits almost every day, but rarely SRT's.

Re: why no summits

Local demographics are definitely going to affect the "mix" of the trim levels that are "popular" in that area.

AAAA mentions SRT...I've only seen two that I can recall around here.

Re: why no summits

Mostly SRTS, Summits, and Laredos around here, but then again I do do a lot of driving around through the hamptons so thats probably why. (Not uncommon to see a row of cars in traffic lamborghini, ferrari, aston martin, rolls, etc. And Range Rovers and Mercedes are like Toyota Camrys. I'm a town outside of the hamptons but still have to drive through.

Idiots like that don't make the rest of us Iowa boys look good does it. I moved to California from Bettendorf, Iowa (Quad-Cities) 25 years ago, and I kid you not, one of the first people I talked to in a retail store out here asked me if I had electricity growing up.

Lifelong Hawkeye fan here by the way. You can take the boy out of Iowa but you can't take Iowa out of the boy right?
