Why did you file a claim? This is the kind of thing to pay with cash, not insurance.

The Explorer wasn't hurt (though I had to use some force to get the roof rack cross bar straight across the top again after it caught the bottom of the garage door. We had to replace the bottom two sections of the door though.

One year later, to the day, she pulled into the garage in our new Toyota 4Runner and didn't wait until it completely raised. There was scuff damage on the roof of the truck and we had to replace the bottom two sections of the garage door.

She's been accident free since. Of course, now, I keep the Jeep and the MX5 in the garage and her Subaru sits in the driveway so she doesn't have to come into the garage.

Dude, our wife’s must be related...too funny. 2 times she closed the garage doors on our cars and once she manage to rip a side mirror off the pillar separating the two doors...I was expecting the...'' well...the garage moved on me..'' type of answer... so then, had her park outside for a while, until she backed up into the Recycle Bins we have up here...Large HARD as hell plastic bins on wheel...well that busted the tail lights...Now, I feel as if I need to buy her a TANK or something rubber bumper car of some sort…

I filed a claim as $4600 isn't cash I have.

Haven't driven a tank since the 70's and the M60 only got about 3 mpg with a top speed of about 50. Maintenance was a bear as well.

I agree! But still, dangerous situation! Hitting a deer or a moose can cause loads of damages!

Wife hit garage today 😞

Moose is way more severe than a deer and more likely to cause death. Due to their long legs and resultant hight the car will topple the body into the windshield or roof of the vehicle decapitating or crushing it occupants. My father hit one and the legs actually came into the vehicle and the moose was still alive. They fortunately had a knife in the vehicle and had to slit the moose's throat before they were killed by the thrashing hooves. Dad still has scars on his hands from pulling his hands off the steering wheel which were sandwiched between the the windshield glass and moose.

Deer cause a lot of damage. But moose more than not cause death. Also a deers eyes glow in headlights. Moose eyes do not they are just a black shadow on the road. They can also come on to and cross a road in a few steps. Thankfully in my province our highways are fenced on both sides to try and prevent wildlife fatalities. We are living and operating in their world.

Motorcyclists also have come to death from spearing a moose with their helmet and body. Suffocating if death is not instant inside the Moises body while the bike passes underneath.

Don't get me wrong, I understand they're dangerous, Just being from the Midwest we don't get to see them much outside of Zoos, let alone hit them with vehicles. Just struck me as a humerous response.

TonyMontana:
Just out of curiosity, if your insurance premium goes up why not drop that insurance of course after the repairs are done? I mean, other insurance co wouldn't check all this would they?

I just recently dealt with my insurance when wife decided to leave her purse in the back seat VISIBLE while we went to watch a pop warner football game only to come back to see window broken, paint scratched and interior leather trim also scratched and peeling. Cost was just shy of 2k so decided to go through insurance for it.

Yesterday morning i get a call from my father stating the night before on his way home from work a big rig side swiped him and took the side mirror, scratched paint and left a dimple in the rear quarter panel of his 2012 tacoma. It was basically a hit an run since driver sped off. Dad was able to get plate # on that big rig so we are going to follow up with insurance and see if they can track them down.

Mind you all this has occurred in less than 2 months. We'll see what happens, i'm assuming that rig has to have some type of insurance so we are hoping they pay.

Worst case scenerio if that rig does not have insurance well depending on the total cost of repair we may or may not go through insurance to repair but if we do I'm sure our premium would go up.

Moose also have the bad habit in the fall of walking into the middle of the road with a "this is MY road, and you don't belong here" attitude. Amazing how much damage a bull moose can inflict on a vehicle in a matter of minutes, even if you don't hit them.
Often the vehicle driver is unpleasantly surprised at just how fast something so clumsy looking can move. Even grizzly bears tend to avoid them, for good reason.
