I replace mine every 6 months to 12 months. The winters out here can really kill wipers.
I haven't had good luck with the Rain X blades. Seems once the Rain X coating wears off on them, they are done. Tried a few once, lasted me only about a month before needing replaced.
Costco sells Goodyear "hybrid" blades that seem to do OK, even run occasional sales on them. Have a set on the JGC right now. They initially had a few smudges of something on certain parts of the blades, some sort of glue or residue, that made them streak in those places. After a few rains/snow, those spots wore off, and they wipe quite well now.
Yes, get them replaced. Many of the ones mentioned here are very good. I have started ordering wipers from rockauto.com . Especially if I have to order something else(save on shipping). Very good deals on many of the wipers mentioned.
What a complete waste of money and materials to have to replace the whole blades for 20.00 or more...!!
Whatever happened to the good old days of 4.00 refills that you just slipped in and worked great?
I believe with PIAA wipers you can buy the blades and still buy refills and they work well also.....
Mine started to split after 5 months along the length of the wiper blades. Took it to the local dealer who stated that the blade couldn't be replaced on its own and needed to be ordered as an entire fixed part just like the Mercedes ML for $250 AUD.
Not satisfied with that response I drove to another dealer, who fitted new blades on the spot and didn't charge me for it. Apparently common for them to go after 6 months especially in extreme hot/cold conditions.
I just replaced mine with Rain-X wipers. They're working fine so far. I tried the Trico "Exact-Fit" wipers, but they were an "Exact Fail". The channel that the wiper arm fits into is too narrow.
I continue to experience good success with Costco wipers at $10 each (Canadian), replaced every 7 months or so. (They could last longer, but I like to replace things early.)
Quick question, I was about to purchase the Icon Wipers but saw that the blades come in different lenghts, 22, 21, 20, 19, etc., which ones shoould be the correct length for my Limited 2014 Grand Cherokee ?.
Thanks in advance for your help
Over the past 18 months the Bosch Icon has become more widely stocked by the chain parts stores. Many have a little digital thingy on the rack so you identify the exact length and curvature by vehicle year and model to pick.
I replaced my wipers yesterday with the Icon suggested here, exact fit, very happy with them, now I guess I need some rain to try them ?...I know up north the weather is not good, here its summer and having sun all day long, here is a quick pic taken this morning after I washed my GC.
Rgds.
