Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

The problem turned out to be with Icon wiper I had. Not grime on the glass or weak spring in wiper arm.

This week I was at Home Depot and bought Michelin 22" wiper for $6 ( maybe $8). Put it on and it is perfect (didn't clean the glass before, didn't wash the car for about 1 month at least). I am never buying expensive wipers again

Wait and see how long they last. I know what you're going to say, they're so cheap you'll just replace them again...to me its not about them being cheap vs expensive, I want good wipers that are going to wipe well for a long time for safety reasons.

PIAA wiper refills are like $7.

I was interested in using something like that, but I didn't want to mess up the rain sensing wipers.

I guess it's sort of an abstract question to ponder. I think my rain sensing wipers still work just fine, but it's tough to tell because I never turn the wipers on besides a few one-off swipes in parking lots with lots of streetlights.

Aquapel sheds water like a boss (haha), including that time I was driving while we got a few inches of rain in 15 minutes.

But not to thread jack *too* much, I suppose I should comment about the direct question. Yes, my Silblades have pleased me well, lo, these 20 swipes or so across the windshield I have commanded them to perform since I installed them in May.

Does the Siliblade (passenger side) touch the corner of the windshield? I want an OEM fit.

If so, which do you have (premium, hybrid, ultimate)?

I found your question to be ambiguous. Here are two views for you to evaluate for yourself:

This is the "Ultimate" variant, though I admit I forget what the differences are. Specifically, an FB121 and an FB122. I was going to get one for the rear glass to match, but Amazon didn't have it in stock and before I got around to ordering it Aquapel obviated the upgrade.

Thanks. I have seen some of the aftermarket passenger side blades and the tip of the blade does not touch the lower corner of the windshield. When that occurs, the end of the blade doesn't touch the windshield until about 1/4 up on the windshield.

Based upon the pics, it looks like the end of the blade does in fact keep in contact with the windshield ... thanks.

It does. The Silblade wiper material is silicone so it is very compliant.

I was going to order the Bosch Icons, but according to Bosch's website, the Icons are not compatible with the '14 JGC.... WTF?

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I have been using Bosch Icons for the past 4 years. They work great and last a long time. The only issue is (and this applies to any blade) the build up of spray wax on the windshield after multiple trips through the touch-free car wash. I run my wipers a few swipes after the wax application and before the blow dryer.
