Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I recently replaced original wipers with Bosch Icon and they just don't clean well on the driver side approximately under the area where wiper attaches under the arm (across the whole range of motion, the stripe about 10 in wide has water left). Passenger size is fine. Wipers are correct length, 22 in for driver side and 21 for passenger IIRC. Switching them from one side to another produces the same result - driver side is not cleaned well, passenger side is fine.

What replacement wipers do you use?

I understand there is a chance driver side wiper arm has weak spring but I didn't have this problem with original wipers.

I use the Icons on my MY12 and have not experienced the issue you describe. They have been great since I installed them about six months ago.

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I've used Bosch Icons for years on my '05 and now on my '12 Grand Cherokee. You might want to contact whoever you bought the wiper from or Bosch directly and tell them the problem and get a new replacement (under warranty for free) and see if that fixes the problem.

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I went with the standard OEM wipers as a replacement. I got a good two winters out of the previous ones and decided I'd order new ones from justforjeeps.com.

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

Bosch Icons come in A and B variant for each length. The A and B denotes the curve of the window. Bosch's website calls for both to be A's for the Grand Cherokee. I believe the B variant is for a more curved windshield and would usually only be for the passenger side. A's are for a more flat windshield. Could you have gotten both blades in B variant which works on the slightly more curved passenger side but not the more flat drivers side?

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

It may not help your situation, but I had a similar problem a few years ago after replacing the wipers on my Challenger. I tried everything I could think of and finally, out of frustration, tried bending the wiper arm so that it pressed harder against the window. Not enough to turn the arm into a pretzel, but just enough to create a little more pressure. Cured the problem.

Also feel the windshield where you are having problems. You may have some tree sap or similar stuck on the windshield. I had that problem before and wrecked 2 sets of new blades until I removed the sap with a razor blade.

Yes it seems like aftermarket anything just doesn't work as well as OEM. I would just go with the mopar blades.

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I replaced with the OEMs very smooth and quiet and seem to wipe longer than any of the after market ones, and I have tried a lot of them on other cars.

I replaced the OEMs with Silblades—they seem great.

However, I don't use the wipers anymore because I applied Aquapel. The first application from early May is still going strong. Best ~$10 I have spent in a long time.

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I first replaced the OEM blades with Rain-X Weather beaters earlier this summer. They look like cheap wipers and left streaks on my 2014 Limited.

I just bought Goodyear Hybrid wipers from the local Costco (Nashua, NH - new display). They are much better made (more robust) and packaged (they had blade guards on them). I tested them a couple of times and no more streaking. They even look good on the Jeep!!

I've used previous Goodyear blades on my Murano and they lasted well and worked great during the winter. I expect the same, or better, with these but only time will tell.

Re: Windshield wipers recommendation for '11 WK2

I replaced the OEM wipers on our old 2011 with PIAA Super Silicone blades:

PIAA | Super Silicone

They're excellent blades, I've bought them for many cars over the years.
