Re: Wipers

I've been using the Rain-X wiper fluid.... It's great on bugs, the rain just beads off, and I'm just using the OEM blades.

Does anybody know if they make Rain-X for <32 degree weather? In Souhern Caliornia they don't have a good stock of antifreeze wiper fluid. I guess I won't need it for another 6 months, but just wondering if it exists....

Re: Wipers

Yes the Rain-X winter formula is good for -32 and is a yellowish colour instead of the summer pink stuff. I've been using it for a couple of years and it works great.

Re: Wipers

The Bosche blades have been a disappointment to me, often leaving a bare spot in the middle in cold 10 degree weather, not worth the premium IMHO. Otherwise very streaky.

LOL! Its always a scramble for me when I get to Lone Pine or Independence to try to find suitable washer fluid for winter trips to Mammoth.

I have Bosch wipers on two other cars and they work quite well. Only thing I don't like is that they can be a bit "wobbly" at times when they don't glide across the windshield.

OEM blades are working fine on the Jeep so far.

Yep. Was in Big Bear in '07 when it got to -5. frozen wiper fluid was surprisingly useless. Never again....

+1 on the Valeo blades. I run those on my other vehicles and will go to them when it's time on the WK2. Amazon has good pricing too.

I've tried the others that are typically available at the parts stores like the Bosch and they don't seem to last nearly as long as the Valeo. The difference is in the rubber compound they use. I don't know what it is but I do know they last longer.

I drove off with my WK2 this past winter. It has a little over 9k miles and has seen snow, sleet, rain, hail, pollen, dirt, etc. In addition its been through 8 states with varying weather conditions. I don't think its the quality of the rainwater, I think its just normal wear and tear. I do agree that when I took my baby home, the wipers did a phenomenal job---streak-free wipes every pass. However, I think because of the snow storms and ice, along with road grime, insects, and dirt, the wiping surfaces have been degraded, especially after 9k miles.

Re: Wipers

I swapped out for the Rain-X Latitude blades. (I also use the Rain-x for the wiper fluid)

Haven't had any issues with the rain sensing wipers with the Rain-x wiper fluid. Stuff works great.
