Wiring Harness

I've got an airbag light that started kicking on and off at random intervals, then just decided to stay on permanently. At first I was thinking it was the clock spring, but the dealer told me it was two wiring harnesses that run from under the drivers seat to the dash.

With a quote of about 600 bucks to replace them, I was thinking I might be able to find an alternative "cheaper" method, DIY.

Has anyone had any experience with this type of thing, and what are your thoughts on trying to do it solo vs. caving in and letting the dealer do their thing and rape my wallet?

Re: Wiring Harness

Did you get a second opinion from another dealer? From a reliable independent mechanic?

Re: Wiring Harness

Not yet, that's a good suggestion though. Hard pressed to find one around here though, all the reviews of local places have been nothing but horror stories about being ripped off and crap work. I was hoping the dealer would be somewhat fair and do good work.
