Yeah - having loaners would be nicer in my opinion too. Two times in the last 4 years I had gotten a rental (2011 bottom seat cover replacement (cosmetic issue) and 2014 front half axle shaft replacement (safety issue))...I think I had a loaner two times for my early 1990's GC. It isn't likeI'm having to get a rental very often so not a huge deal, but still would be nice for them have loaners on hand from a customer point of view. 20 years of Jeeps and only needed a loaner/rental 4 times....my service dealership is only two miles away now and gladly drops off and picks back up which is nice.

Then the car rental company didn't want to drive me back and they wanted to close early, blah blah blah. At the end of the day, I ended up being responsible for $45 of the rental and worse, spent a bunch of time and energy during a work day, missing a bunch of important conference calls yet being more tired. Had I been 5 minutes later, the car rental place would have told me what to do with myself and I would have had to figure out how to get home, not that Jeep would pay for the cab.

My point here is that car rental reimbursement is not remotely the same thing as just having loaners ready. The experience should have been as follows: I drop off my dead Jeep, I pick up my loaner, I return when the Jeep is fixed. Instead it was a horrible experience. Another time I attempted to get a car rental the car rental agency took over an hour to actually arrive, just to pick me up to take me back to the rental agency. Then the dealership said they can get the repairs done in 3 hours total so I said screw it and waited. But again, a work day I was dealing with Jeep crap instead of dropping off my car, getting a loaner and picking up my car on my way back. And my boss, who loves BMWs, immediately asks upon my returning: "were they out of loaners or something?"
I took mine in for warranty service and found out the rental car agency WAS OUT OF CARS, the dealership hadn't even reserved for me beforehand even tough I was told one would be provided!

What a waste of my time on a 3 month old 50K vehicle!!! I told them we would have to try again later as I didn't have all day to sit around. They also hadn't preorderd the suspect parts and therefore couldn't ene fix it that day, :-(

I got a 300C with the Hemi the first time and a loaded Durango the second time.

When I've needed a loaner from my local Chevy dealer, they and the Hertz counter said they have to put me in a GM car - otherwise no reimbursement. I've had the pleasure of driving several Aveos and Sonics as a result.
Damn, they took care of you. My recent rentals for warranty service was a basic Dodge Avenger which had absolutely no power and was a nightmare to drive and the second time they upgraded me to a V6 Challenger. The looks and sound were great, but I still missed my V8 Hemi so much during those rental periods.

Re: WK 2 is a little scary with all the problems especially SRT

I've not needed a loaner since buying a 2011 WK2 in Oct 2010. My dealer has shitty coffee and commercial grade neutral colored carpet, but the oil changes are fast.

The only towing necessary is when I've rescued those who have skated off the road in a snowstorm, or when hauling a boat or camper to any number of National Parks or Reservoirs in the Rocky Mountain West.

Seriously, not kidding.
