I know the one you're talking about, but in reality, nothing of that sort has been brought up among this fairly large group of real world users of the product (deceleration shudder).

Re: WK2 Quality Control

I am actually curious about the ratio of cars tested with the Pentastar chassis versus the Hemi chassis. My guess is that they tested far more with the Pentastar engine because it was brand new, and they expected more people to opt for the V6. They are also launching that engine in so many other models that it would make sense to run the new engine through the ringer in a pretty tough application (4800 lb. vehicle). If I am correct it seems plausible that this could have been missed, even though it has been an issue on other vehicles.

If they are designing a new TC it has to be a pretty big pool of users that are experiencing shudder. They wouldn't come out with a new torque converter for a handful of vehicles. It would be cheaper and easier for them to buy-back those cars than roll out a new torque converter. The design/modeling time, tooling costs, and platform testing must be very expensive!

Re: WK2 Quality Control

Woo Hoo, just picked up the Jeep today. Driven about 100 miles to get the feel of car, about 1/3 city and 2/3 highway / freeway. No issues so far. Didn't notice any shudder at any speed, either upshifting or downshifting. At stops, the hemi was so smooth and quiet, I couldn't believe the engine was really running, had to glance at the tach to make sure there were any RPMs showing. Gobs of power when accelerating on the freeway from 40 - 80+.

There is no comparison between the WK2 and my current '96 ZJ. Even new, the ZJ wasn't anywhere near as refined and responsive. If this car holds up for 15 years like the ZJ, it'll be an incredible ride. I hope I don't find anything major over the next few weeks, but the first few hours haven't revealed any issues at all with the QC from Chrysler or the Dealer.

Re: WK2 Quality Control

The GC had a sticker on the driver's side window saying it was randomly selected at the factory for quality road testing. If I remember correctly, it said that it could have been driven up to 65 miles but it only had 18 miles on it. No one at the dealership test drove this one as it still had wrappings on it. There were at least a couple dozen other models out there for others to play with.

Anyone else have one of these stickers on theirs?

It currently has about 550 miles and so far so good considering tomorrow will be only two weeks of ownership. The DTE shows about 75 miles left on the second tank and EVIC shows 12.8 MPG. My wife should be topping 1K by the end of this weekend.
